Hi there,

Here at Samsung we are always very keen to get your feedback on anything you feel will help to improve our products and services. The Community is no exception.

In fact, given that the Community was designed to be driven by its users, it would be a little remiss if we didn’t look to feed your ideas directly into the Communities future development.

I look forward to reading your comments and to working with you on shaping our Samsung Community.

Lee

Thanx Lee for your welcome!
My question is, who initiates the topics?
Coupled with, how can users create a topic?

Hi AngryBiro,

Anyone who has signed into the community can ask a question, provide an answer or just start a conversation. Sometimes it is just better to talk things through, to share experience and hopefully help each other to get the most out of your tech.

If you click through to any of the categories (Smartphones, TV etc.) you should see an option to 'Start a topic'. It really is as easy as that.

See you in the Community.

Well I was going through the offered topics and could not find such I would need now - special questions...

My Special Question is even based on your business policies in the different regions of our planet and I would like to discuss it that way asking what sense does it make the way SAMSUNG is doing it right now and since many years already mostly unknown to SAMSUNG users.

I crashed very unlucky my beautiful S7 edge this summer when I was stumbling over steps on a little hill in the city of Mönchengladbach. with my right hand I could prevent myself from falling on my face but on my left hand I carried a little bag and inside some stuff like wallet and S7 as well.

Before I used a flip cover on S7 but the edges were broken off and I could not find in time the simple butwell working back cover out of Silikon which also covers all edges and I am using that on other phones since years. Well I wanted a nice looking one for my nice looking S7edge and bought this flip cover with same color for about 20 Euros reduced from 29,95 Euros and after all it wasn't worth it as the important plastic edges just got loose and partially broke off when the phone later was droppen and never ever got damaged, thanks to our office carpet.

But then when I stumbled I had no chance and with me left hand I crashed fullyon stones tiles and I could hear how my S7 was hit so badly I must not even see this...

No chance to work on it anymore because the panel was broken and was not able to reflect the given signals anymore though it's still working and I am loading it regularly since I found out that the system itself still works and even sends notifications which I cannot read...

Okay - then checking what is possible to get this one repaired because soon I found that it was still sold for more than 300 Euros. But I was shocked when I also found that the repair costs about the same. Later I understood why, because SAMSUNG has created this phone actuall into two halfs and both sides got much hardware included - so hte panel is not only the panel it's almost half of the whole device.

Okay - accepted at first sight I cannot pay that for now and decided to keep it until I would find some other solution.

A few days later I found videos of how to repair this phone and I thought by myself when I have learned about this sensitive panel that this is sure some work and as this price is including the repair service it's not so bad as I thought.

Now I tried to find this panel for a better price and I found it in the US...Only about 120 $ which I could invest if they would send it... I thought...

But first getting goods from the US is almost impossible as of the blocked EU market to the US since decades and so the fees and transport costs would eat up all thepossible gains on sales and next I heard from a SAMSUNG representative at Frankfurt am Main that SAMSUNG is producing ON PURPOSE for different regions different device constructions inside in order to hinder that way exchanging parts over the so called grey markets.

Okay we both know many are doing this like Apple and other big brands...

Still it's not fair to customers and also a big waste of anything to put into a given basic construction changes which only cost more money more energy more expenses in IT equipment time and workload - you can look everywhere and it will raise costs - directly and as well indirectly.

But all these brands claim for themselves how much they are investing in our environmet support worldwide...haha

So the question is simple - will you be so nice and sell me one EU certified panel just for the basic costs and I will repair it myself - on my own risk?

Otherwise I will keep it and hoping that I will find one day a used piece for little money bit this might take some more time...

Sure too bad that I got the edge-version which you can hardly find in our market....

Sincerely,

E. A.

Hello, I've been looking as to where I would post a question but can't find a link so if i can post here to ask sonmething would that be okay. I have a Samsung Front loader B1445A and accidentally swithched it off after it started its cycle, it is now stuck on the home screen where I can't change the programme setting, I can't even switch it of at the front of the machine only at the mains. I have left it switched off for a good while but nothing seems to work, can you tell me if there is a reset switch somewhere to reboot it.

                                                                                                            thanking you

Hello and welcome @blzbob73. :smileyhappy:

Best place to post your query is on the Home Appliances board here.

Hi Lee,

Just joined this community as I've quite a bit of Samsung tech.

Does anyone from Samsung (Technical or otherwise) monitor and contribute to this community?

Just having a quick look as some questions raised (R6/R7 Speaker issue) and the poor guy didn't get any response after 3 weeks. If this community relies soley on peopel with new hardware they're having issues with, it won't gain much traction.

I hope this forum does expand, but may needs some technical assistance from Samsung.

For info, I too have a queries regarding my R7 Speakers that I'm having issues with !

Many Thanks,

Paul.

I just logged into this community and as I've recently bought a Gear S3 I really would like to be able to just browse a section which covers all post related to that product - or at least just wearables. However the only relevant section covers "Smartphones, Tablets & Wearables"! Come on Samsung that's far too broad. I've no problem with that being the top-level section, but you need to then sub-divide it into further sections. Plenty other forums work this way - why can't yours? Until you make your community better designed I can't see many usesr interacting with it.

Was asked to give feedback on forum layout:

My views, each members reply box is far too big, a normal forum layout should be like this
https://i.imgur.com/n6AsSiF.jpg

People are going to struggle to work out how to post, how to find threads, and IMO it's just too clunky, it doesn't look like a community, it looks like a FAQ section at the bottom of a product page

If you want this place to thrive, you need to use a proper board like IPB or vBulletin

I can't even work out how to reply to a thread without directly replying to the last poster, And clicking reply to someones post that is not the last post, does not appear to have a 'quote' option, so replies don't make sense

Ability to add images?
I've been a member of and staff on many forums for over a decade, they are difficult to keep active and full at the best of times, so they need to be familiar, not awkward, that's how I would describe this forum, awkward

Hope I wasn't too blunt, but was asked to give feedback, so did so honestly :smiling-face:

Dave-S7 - Your responses are spot on in so many ways. How Samsung seriously expect this "community" to take off as it stands is beyond me. See https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3 for an example of how to do it properly. That's already got 5 sub-sections and all are thriving with regular posts and responses. What I belive MOST needed and wanted is a forum where Samsung technicians (or suitably qualified/connected Samsung customer service people) will respond with answers to requests for help, reporting of bugs etc. If you can provided that, and with quick responses, then this community just might be taken seriously, but as it stands it looks like you are just paying lip service to your customers by providing such an awfully designed forum.

 @PaulMol

While not techincally part of the Technicals teams role, you try telling an engineer not to look at a forum full of product feedback.

However, we don't just rely their curiosity, but instead forward on any post/thread that the community members haven't answrered or that the community team can't answer.  Depending on the topic, they will either provide an answer, which we then share, or they will go off and investigate.  With the latter, we will try to provide you guys with regular updates and continue to send your feedback onto the product teams.

It will take a little while for everyone one to get used to the Community and to adapt exisitng processes into it's rather unique modus operandi.  The good news is that everyone from marketing to technical support are in our corner and keen to see what a dedicated Samsung community can do.  Personally, I can't wait to show them.

Hi.

So before going to layout let's do the bugs I noticed.

1.

Touching the input frame (when virtual keyboard is not active yet) takes me to the bottom of page (opposite to the pressing little arrow button from build in android browser which takes me to the top). To actually start typing I have to hold on input (reply, post ) frame in the same way I would try to paste cut copy. Only then keyboard appears letting me to type.

2.

Every time I log in (to reply via link from email app) it's asking me for password even as I mark it every time to remember password.  Even when using Samsung Pass to remember password and use biometrics it won't remember it. With Samsung pass it simply say password or login is incorrect.

So i have to cancel Samsung pass and type it in manually.

3. Touching anywhere on screen when typing (like typing a reply) apart from keyboard does...  tekes me down to the bottom of page. Looks like my post just dissapearred. But it's still there higher on page. If user does not realize that he could simply click back button or refresh. And his all post would be gone. Would have to start typing again from beginning.

Now let's look at the layout.

Here it looks for me more like an app not like a forum.

In my opinion layout should show user all topics threads without having to click through menus and menus.

Sort of like a frames layout

Good example of layout is Skype app. Where left side is sliding menu.

Simply many people would like forums like with layout I tested myself recently (it's just an empty board but shows good fast layout)

Please! Change the design! It's so hard to navigate. Make it simple, like forums, on phone it's even worst. Make it compact, use all free space. The replays from left to rigth are verry annying. Too much padding, too hard to use it.

All fantastic feedback, thank you.

Although we had a clear plan for the Community before launch, we were also very clear that it's future would largely be shaped by it's members. We didn't want to do too much development before launch or present you all with a fait accompli.

This really is just the start.

The platform is the same as many established and incredibly successful communities. It has plenty of flexibility and loads of room for development. This, coupled with your feedback, should allow us to move through the gears as more members join and the content grows.

Although we will not be able to implement every suggestion or request, we will absolutely read and consider them. As long as an idea is technically possible and makes sense for the majority, it will be on the table.

In the meantime, please keep your ideas and suggestions coming. We literally can't get enough feedback.

Hi Lee

2 questions.

Firstly and probably really *****... how do i post a new question to the smartphone community? Being asked for individual addressees...

Secondly the question I'd post if i knew how! I have a new Galaxy S7. My call log doesn't capture all calls received whether they be missed calls or calls I've actually answered? What am i doing wrong?

Cheers

Hi @HGCP32. Sorry about the late reply but just seen this post. :smileyembarrassed:

If you're in the Smartphone board and select 'Start a Topic' it should allow you to post a new thread to the board without requiring addressees:

New Thread 01.JPG

Which when posted:

New Thread 02.JPG

And on the board:

New Thread 03.JPG

If you or anyone else gets something different, definitely let us know and we'll look into it.

I can get to read the posts if I scroll down or press something else first

But if I login and go straight to posts

I get a red box saying insufficient privileges I have had to reset my device due to other issues and they are still there

Thanks

Samsung have changed my Internet. I have just been onto the live chat and they have cut me off twice. So ignorant. All I want to know is how do I uninstall their update of my Internet to go back to the one before which worked fine for me. I now have white icons on a white background at the bottom of my screen!
