Got the Samsung music app. It won recognise any of the tunes I put in from my computer. My phone is a S9 but I don't think that should make any difference

No. The music on my computer is transcribed from vinyl via a memory stick that fit's in my record player then to my computer , then to CD. and then to my phone. For some reasons all the music I've transferred displays as REC 1 or TRCK 1

Never mind. It was a stab in the dark. But thank you for the advice, its worth a shot. I desperately don't want to carry another music device around.

Hi @philnad  You may need to convert if the files are not a supported type, for instance mp3 ,mp4 and flac are fine.  https://www.samsung.com/Supported file types

otherwise can use an alternative music player as @mickyrb  suggested.   Another one is VLC which is free and open source, seems to support all formats.  List here https://alternativeto.net/software/music

edit: You download the players to your phone.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.
