Samsung Galaxy A42 5g
All of a sudden, I am not able to receive text from my son on both my Smart and Globe SIMs. He gets all my messages but when he sends me a msg, it shows Sent on his end but I dont receive them.
I have no problem calling him or receiving his calls. There is no problem with texting between me and other contacts. He has no problem with his other contacts either.
He is not blocked on my phone. I am not blocked in his.
I only use Samsung Messages and Contacts apps. I've deleted my son from Contacts. I've also deleted all past conversations with him from Messages. I've cleared the cache on both apps. I've forced stop both apps, re-launched the apps and when that didnt work, I restarted my phone. When that still didnt work, I turned my phone off, waited 5 mins and turned it back on.
I called Samsung and they told me to reset my network settings. I did.
None of these worked. Any fresh ideas?

His non-Samsung phone uses built-in Google Messages. I have tried installing that but it still did not work. It worked for other people in my contacts but not for him so I ended up uninstalling it to bring me back to where I was before.

Hello Robin999,
Thank you so much for taking the time to look into my issue. I have already read and tried the suggestions from that article before I posted here. My messaging type is set to Automatic. It was set to Chat before and it used to work. I then tried Automatic. Still not working.

I have transferred my SIMs to my husband's phone. I will try that now and post results here. I can't reset my phone to factory settings at this time as I dont have the time right now to rebuild everything.

Hello again, I am sorry to report that putting my current Smart and Globe SIMs into another phone and testing from there yielded the same results. The lady at the Globe store was even kind enough to replace my Globe SIM. Still, no luck. From here, we can conclude that whatever is causing this bizzare behavior is not my device or apps and settings on my device. It's not my Globe SIM that's the culprit either.
I bought a new prepaid Globe SIM (different nbr) and inserted it into my phone. Tomorrow, I will test with that. Apparently, I have to wait 24 hours to add load to it while my registration details are being verified.
I will report the test results here.
Robin999, I am not ready to do a factory reset just yet, either.
If anyone else has other ideas, I'm all ears.

The new prepaid Globe SIM on my phone exhibited the same behavior as the other SIMs that were originally there.
I transferred this new SIM into the other phone. I got the same behavior.
Globe says the problem might be on the other end, i.e., my son's phone and/or SIM. My son insists there is no problem on his end as he is able to call and text others with no issues.
I am out of ideas.

As my son is arriving next week for a brief visit, we will test together and replace his Sim, if necessary.
At this time, the problem is still unresolved.
