Just updated my photo to a Samsung A36 G5. With previous phone I could delete select sms messages in the app by selecting 'delete messages' from the 3 dots in the right hand corner. Them select all and then select any sms that I did not want to delete. with the new phone it appears the only way to delete selected sms is to delete each one individually and as I have about 4,500 messages would not want to do this. Is there an option to tag all the messages and then untag any I want to keep?'

Hi @les461 Welcome to the Samsung Community 😀.
If you go to the Messaging app,tap the 3 Dot Menu Bar Delete, long press to select the first message you wish to Delete and you can select further messages . Now press delete.
I can still select all and deselect the ones I do not want deleted on S Devices in any case. This is older article .

James, Doesn't work that way for me. Have Samsung S36 5G and running One UI version 8.0 and Android Version 16. When I open the app, tap the 3 dot menu, select delete I get the following
I do not get any option to select individual messages, etc like I did with the old phone. If I tap on Delete it deletes all the messages.
If I open the app and long tap an individual item, I can delete it but do not get option it highlight other items in the conversation.
