Is there any way to make the notification icons bigger on the lock screen ?

unfortunately not (I'm on an A33, last year's A3x phone) however you can make it so that notifications are in full view constantly, this can be done by pressing and holding on the lock screen (you should be prompted to unlock your phone), tapping on the icons beneath the clock and selecting 'Detailed' when the pop-up menu shows
