Hi all,

We just bought a new Samsung washing machine. The washing machine was set to the cotton program which would take 1:02 hours. The washing machine was fully loaded. But after 3 hours it was still washing. Any ideas on why it would take so long?

At this picture you see the ‘weight’ icon at the left on the display. Then it will recalculate the duration by the weight of the laundry.

does it still wash thoroughly like all the other programs?

Yes, for us it works fine. Having that said, we don’t have very dirty clothes. So suppose it depends. But we mostly use this program, since the laundry is clean and it simply takes the shortest amount of time.

The way my machine changes from 1 Hr29 to 3hr35 is DRIVING ME MAD. I means I cannot get a wash complete before I leave the house and therefore the clothes end up sitting in the machine all day getting very creased.
Really hate this washing machine. NOT HAPPY.

I know this is an old post, but this is still relatively high up the Google results.

Found some documentation that explains that this is expected on the "Cotton" or "Eco" settings, and time may increase for heavy loads (initial time is based on a 4.5kg load).

Using a different programme should give more consistent times.

Good to know.

ive just bought a samsung and I couldn’t believe my wash just took 3 and 1/2 hrs plus

I previously had a hotpoint and had a few options of quick washes or you were at least able to half the time of a full wash.

I’ll try some different programmes tomorrow and hope that helps.

i’m not a patient person - this is going to drive me mad!

I have the same problem. It started after a few months. If I stop the program in the middle and changes back to cotton (1:29) it stays on this, which means the weight isn't always matter. It's really strange

I’m finding this on a new machine I have just bought. Driving me mad. Called an engineer but they are threatening to charge me if they do not find anything wrong.
thing I note though is: when my machine says “sensing load” it’s also filling up with water. Surely this isn’t right? Won’t it be weighing the water, or now wet load, or is this how it does it?
