Washing machine 3c error

I have a Samsung front loader (model

WW90T554DAW/S1) that recently started to struggle with the spin at the end of a cycle. I've noticed the load sensing taking much longer than it used to, although the cycle mostly runs ok, but it can never get up the speed for the final spin no matter how it's loaded. I tried a drum clean and a calibration cycle, both of which are unable to complete and just go on indefinitely. When watching the machine the drum seems to turn anticlockwise ok, but when it tried to go clockwise it either doesn't move or twitches slightly then stops. I ran a diagnostic and got the error 3C indicating a motor issue. I've opened the machine up and checked for loose connections, debris, corrosion etc but all was fine and the issue persists. The filter is clean, water drains fine and the drum spins freely when moving by hand.

There has been no increase in noise levels or any banging.

I want to have a go at fixing this myself but l'm not 100% sure if it requires a motor replacement or if it's likely a controller/PCB issue. Any help greatly appreciated!

A "3C" error on a washing machine typically indicates a motor problem; it is not functioning properly. This is most commonly seen on Samsung washing machines, where "3C" signifies a motor malfunction.

Possible causes: • Overloaded machine • Worn motor brushes • Loose or damaged wiring to the motor • Motor belt issues • Faulty motor control board.

Check for overloading: Ensure the washing machine is not overloaded with clothes.

Power cycle: Unplug the machine for a few minutes, then plug it back in to reset the system.

Worst case: It may be worth contacting Samsung support; you may need an engineer.

Note: I cannot recommend doing this repair yourself. If it is still under warranty, you could void it, further damage the machine, or injure yourself.
