Hi  we have had our new Samsung  washing machine for about 6 months now and it stinks like sewage when in use. The hose isn't kinked and is fitted correctly and the hose itself doesn't smell. The drum is clean and doesn't smell, the drawer doesn't smell and neither does the top up door or anywhere around the machine. The cupboard the connections and traps in doesn't smell, all the drainage is brand new also. The smell is just in the air when in use but impossible to figure out where it's coming from. Anyone else had the same problems??

Hi,
Detergent: Too much detergent can leave residue that can cause a smell.

Leave the door open: After washing, leave the washer door slightly open to allow moisture to evaporate and prevent mold growth.

When to contact Samsung support:

If the smell persists even after trying these cleaning methods.

If you suspect a mechanical issue with your washing machine.

If you notice visible mold or mildew growth inside the drum

I stopped using gels after all my washing started smelling funky. Now using good old non-bio powder and my machine and washing smell great again.

Hi thanks for the advice, the detergent is measured by the machine and most loads are done on eco wash, door is always left open to dry. No part of the machine or waste pipe smells and I've stuck my head in the drum it is spotless and doesn't smell also the clothes never smell bad either. Been building and plumbing for 25 years so i know and have checked all the things that normally would cause this but I'm stumped.

is it in a utility room with other cleaning stuff ? - it sounds exactly like another story I heard once where they thought it was their washing machine stinking out the place .... and all it was , was an old floor mop or cloth they kept in the utility room that was stinking out the place!! - once they chucked it out - smell gone!

Those 'eco' washes I hate , I try avoid them at all times - I was brought up with washing machines that did not have any eco or cold/cool wash cycles at all, I was also led to believe to kill bacteria and odours on clothes to (if garments can withstand them) do a long wash of at least 60'c to kill the bacteria.

Do you also carry out the required regular drum clean programme on your washing machine , even more important seeing as you are using eco wash for most loads as you say?
