I am posting because I am throughly disappointed with the Samsung side by side fridge and their customer service.
We have a 3 year old refrigerator which has stopped working. The freezer's temperature is stating it is -18 but it is actually -10. And the ice maker stopped working. Of course the warranty is only good for 2 years.
The repair guy suggested by Samsung came out and stated that it is most likely the refrigerant liquid (freon) which must be replaced as there is a suspected leak. He stated this would be upwards of €800 or more. And to basically get a new fridge. He would have to take the fridge to a repair shop for 3 weeks and would cost overall more than the fridge is worth. What a joke!
How can a 3 year old fridge be already broken and have a freon leak?!
I have already spent 120 euros just for Samsung's repair technician to come out and basically do nothing.
We lost a 100 euros in food and my baby's 1 month breast milk supply is also destroyed! I cant even store her breast milk because we have no freezer!
The complaints department at Samsung stated they will pay for materials but why should I pay 120 per hour for labor for a faulty product! This is unacceptable.
I urge anyone thinking about buying Samsung appliances to think again.
Anyone else experience something like this? Is such a leak dangerous to our health? I asked Samsung via chat if it is, they said no. I asked if they can provide information about the liquid used and they provided nothing.

Leaking refrigerant is dangerous to people and pets. You can easily read about the dangers online. Refrigerant is heavier than air, and will hang around the floor, making it especially dangerous for pets and small children.

I am thoroughly disgusted with Samsung and will NEVER buy another Samsung product again. We originally purchased our 2 door side x side refrigerator in 2020 and about 11 months into owning it, the ice maker stopped working, then the entire frig stopped cooling. We were lucky that it was still under warranty. The Samsung certified appliance repair person deemed it unrepairable and a new one was delivered. The new one arrived in October 6, 2021. Now, less than 3 years later, the same thing has happened again. The Freon has leaked out and it is also not fixable. Only this time, I have no warranty. I don't understand why they are continuing to made such a shoddy, worthless product.

@jaxbeachrat I had to argue with Samsung for months to get a very low refund (300). After paying for their service I ended up with 150 euros and they picked up the faulty fridge and left a large scratch on my wood floors on the way out. Never again. There are thousands of people with the same issues. Even a Facebook group. Hopefully they will start a class action soon

We have exactly the same issue with our twin door fridge/freezer and it’s only 6 years old. The freezer hasn’t been freezing properly for a couple of years, and over the past few months the fridge has also stopped cooling as it should and obviously the freezer stopped working completely. Couldn’t be more disappointed with this VERY expensive product and we will not be buying a Samsung fridge again.

Same problem except only after 1 year and 2 months. The technician said the freon must have leaked out and the compressor failed as a result someone will be coming back to replace the compressor but freon leak and to the environment somehow is not a concern and there is no mention that the leak will be fixed and that the freon will be recharged. I am very disappointed with this product and will not be purchasing a Samsung again very poor service
