I have exactly the same problem…only recently started.
the dryer just stops, the drying icon, power button and rotary dial light flashes and the * cooling icon shows. Eventually it just turns itself off.
i guess it’s just overheating 🙄

Same problem here... only recently started after 3 years no problems. We haven't changed the way we use the dryer, and all filters etc are clean. Seems more of a software issue?
I wonder if anyone has fixed this at yet?

Ours has just started this phenomenon, can anyone tell me what the fix was/is?
We have never taken the machine out of the recess to clean it so we can do that but if it's over-heating inside then we maybe need to do that but if this requires replacement parts then I'd like to know what needs replacing.

A short update, engineer came and replaced the motherboard and performed the diagnostics: all was good. Later the same day the fault re-appeared and is now worse than before. I don't think it has completed a whole cycle without pausing (and then someone has to manually un-pause or it goes off).
I've been told the touch-panel is the next thing to swap out but given the motherboard + fitting was nearly £200 then I'm not impressed with this Samsung product. It's not used very often and less than 4 years old.
I'll update when the touch panel has been replaced to let you folks know if that worked.

Hi, We have the same fault, did they fix it in the end?

Yes, it got resolved but it took a couple of visits and a circuit board change that wasn't required.
Sadly, there's no diagnostic that points directly to the root cause of the fault. Our Samsung support technician was very good though and said the likely suspect was one of the PCB's and it did seem suspect as it had discolouration. However, the problem reappeared within a day. That PCB swap cost just under £200 if I remember correctly but that was refundable as it didn't fix the problem.
There was another couple of things to try including swapping out the other PCB or the motor, with the motor still being under the 10 year warranty and free to swap out we went for that next.
And it worked.
So, the problem was the motor.
Since the problems we suspect the dryer isn't working as well as loads are taking longer to dry but the technician assures us this isn't the case.
Finally, I should add that I felt I could swap out the PCB's myself quite easily but the motor was a bit more involved.
