Hi there,
I purchased a Samsung RB31FDRNDSA a week a go that was delivered to me on Thursday 7th September. The delivery driver advised me that I should let the fridge stand for 4 hours before switching on to let the gases settle. To air on the side of caution I let the fridge stand till the following morning, some 18 hours.
When I switched the new fridge on I was surprised by the noise the compressor makes, I thought maybe this is due to heavy loads on the compressor as it tries to bring the internal temps of the fridge and freezer down.
Three days on and the noise is still as loud, thankfully the compressor is no longer running continuously but when it fire up the noise is quite bad.
There is a high pitched electrical noise and also a noise from inside the compressor that sounds like a defective bearing or something.
I have of course checked that the fridge is level and that nothing is fouling at the rear of the fridge. Surely this noise is not normal? How can a product costing this much claiming to be the next best greatest thing be more noisy than the failing Indesit it hs replaced????

Hi @shuff01.
The compressor and motor tend to be noisy at first, but the noise should decrease over time as the operation stabilises.
Any more details/description of the noise you're hearing? I'll check with our product expert for you to see what they'd advise here.

Hi AntS,
How long does it normaly take for the "operation to stabilise"?
It's now been a week and a half with no improvement in noise.
It's a difficult noise to explain, like the compressor blades are catching something as they spin. There are many many videos of Samsung fridge freezers on the internet showing exactly the same symptoms, some worse than others but the noise is always the same just with varying severity.
Thanks

Sorry about the delay there, @shuff01! :smileyembarrassed:
Usual stablisation period is 1-2 weeks. If the noise is still there after that, then I'd advise giving our Home Appliance Support team a call: Monday-Saturday 9am-6pm; UK: 0330 726 7864; EIRE: 0818 717 100.

I've had the fridge for 4 months now, the noise is exactly the same as the day we got it. Samsung will fob you off telling you it'll settle down but in reality that's how it is. I've learnt to live with it now but I'll never purchase another Samsung fridge freezer.

I have owned that same refrigerator for 5 years now. Trust me the noise does not get better! I have had a new compressor put in and a new “ motherboard” , all on warranty. No resolution. Repairman can’t figure it out. The noise drives me crazy and I plan on buying a new refrigerator. It will not be a Samsung. I think Samsung should be replacing our models for newer , improved ones. There are enough complaints on line to know there is a chronic problem with this fridge!
