The door handle of our Samsung RR39M refrigerator has failed, from normal use, after a single year (just outside of warranty, of course).
When you open the door, pivoting the handle on the spring-loaded hinges, pushes plastic "pins' which releases the door seal.
These pins are cambered forward to release the door from the plastic housing of the handle. This part of the plastic housing is quite thin, and is clearly not designed to withstand the repeated openings of the refrigerator door.
The plastic hinge covers have now split & failed, making it impossible to open the door.
See the picture of the split where it has failed. We've tried glueing the split, but it is clearly going to fail again.
You can purchase an entire replacement handle from Samsung (not just the hinge ends of course, but pay for the whole handle, which is quite expensive - circa £65 for this simple part).
Why this was not designed as a metal part that could withstand normal use is beyond me. It a simple yet extremely frustrating design fault.
Samsung - do you provide a replacement handle that has been correctly designed to last longer than a few months?

I pushed Samsung in the topi and was promised a call from I think a product engineer. Of course that didn’t happen. They don’t care.
I’ve had another one break since. Simply a ***** design and even worse customer support

Same problem. About 2 years ago the top part cracked and a few weeks ago the bottom cracked. I have the 5 year guarantee but samsung won't fix it under guarantee.. Samsung say it's misuse! Using the handle to open the door is 'misuse'! I asked samsung for a new handle to fit myself. They said no as it would invalidate the warranty which I thought was ironic.

Same issues here. Poor design and no help despite being well within warranty! I have complained about this issue.

I have a theory on why this is happening. If the foot level is higher at the door hinge side the door can slam if it is left to swing shut. If you look at the handle mechanism, as the door closes a bit of plastic pops out behind the part that's cracking and probably weakens it over time. So I'm going to replace the handle and check that the feet are level so that the door never slams shut.
