I've had a Samsung WD4000 Washer Dryer with ecobubble (8kg) since 2021, got it with a 5-year warranty. After 12 months, it broke down with a crumbling concrete counterweight. This was replaced on warranty.
Last week (July 2024), 3 years after purchasing, it sprang an internal leak and one of the plastic baffles sheared off. I did think it was making odd noises for a while from the drum, which was flapping about a lot. So obviously an internal problem. Have used the washer dryer for normal use, just everyday family clothes etc.
BUT THEY WON'T REPAIR IT ON WARRANTY BECAUSE IT IS MECHANICAL DAMAGE APPARENTLY EVEN THOUGH THE MACHINE DAMAGED ITSELF!
Besides the daft troubleshooting for things that can go wrong, once they saw the internal damage, that was it.
The worst thing is they said "it can be repaired! at cost! let us book a repair technician" I had to ask - "WAS I COMMITTING TO PAYING THE FULL COSTS?" - answer "yes! including the call-out cost". Call me suspicious, but an internal water leak, obvious damaged drum isn't going to be cheap to repair in terms of labour and parts - and with a call out charge on top. i.e. more than £300. The Samsung customer services couldn't even tell me the cost of the call out charge, and its not apparent from the repair centre website. All hidden costs, why would I agree to it?
So 2 breakdowns in 3 years, warranty doesn't cover internal mechanical faults. The answer is to buy a new one from a reputable high street retailer this time. And its a washing machince this time, not a washer dryer. I will buy a separate dryer this time. And I'm not buying Samsung ever again.
