either having trouble balancing the load for going into a spin(or interim spin whilst rinsing) or your Samsung is one of the ones with extra sensors (Turbidity sensors) that detect how dirty the water/washing is soiled and then adds more time onto the wash time

Hi Andy
Appreciate you responding promptly! when i first installed the machine everything was great super wash etc. This problem started about a week ago. we are NOT washing anything heavily soiled by whichever programme keeps extending the run time sometimes upto 3 hours !! Imagine the energy its consuming ouch !! Having done some research yesterday on line i checked that the machine is level and ran the calibration which ran fine with no issues reported?? We are going to try another wash today and hope it performs like its meant to when we fist installed it. If you have anotehr tips please kindly share thanks Rick

dont worry even if it does wash for 3 hours about economy side of things, the most heavy expensive side on washing machines is the element inside that heats up the water .... and that would not be on 3hours solidly throughout the wash.
I was going to suggest try calibrating the drum again (without anything in the drum when you are carrying out the calibration) but you have done that anyway.
you could try doing a 'mixed wash' 60 or 40c and that should take less time, around 1hr-1hr 30mins -
if you choose eco 40-60 thats quite a long programme if you use that one and 'cottons' can be a long one too.
