I have troubles connecting my A/C unit (AR09JSPFBWKNEU) to the smart things app.
The problem is that the expected SSID by the app should start with [room a/c] however the AP in my aircon is called DIRECT-SAMSUNGAIRCON.
So the app doesn't detect a connection. In the past I was able to set up the aircon with the Samsung smart Home app and migrate it to the smart things app.
However I'm not able to get the smart home app to run again as it always crashes after the instructions how to start AP mode.
Any ideas how to add an A/C unit to the smart things app with the SSID DIRECT-SAMSUNGAIRCON or a way to get the smart home app to work?
Thanks in advance
Did you manage to get this sorted out? If not, it may be best to drop our SmartThings specialists an email at email@example.com.
Today I tried to setup a third-party WiFi extender to pretend a [room a/c] network (connected to DIRECT-SAMSUNGAIRCON directly) so the application thought it is a supported device. Unfortunately I haven't succeeded neither with any other supported AP names. The process always failed on an error after few minutes of trying. Perhaps a different port number or some other design changes. It's really a trap on customers when a producer stops support for otherwise fully functional products. My units are six years old only. Two of them still work, two of them disconnected from the account and there is no way to make them connect again. And the whole this hassle is just because of the lack of support in one stupid application. The recommendation from a local workhouse is to purchase a separate WiFi kit for each unit. I.e. next to the nice designed A/C unit an ugly extra box for 280 EUR each...
No, the problem is not solved. I will try with the app support. Should be an easy fix - but let’s see if someone is listening.
Hello guys, any update how to fix this??
