For no apparent reason, my inner screen has failed. The outer screen and the phone still works, but the inner screen is just blank. I can feel the touch panel still working on the inner. I am 6 months out of warranty. I was told I have the option to trade it in at significantly reduced value or repair it for $600+.
Has Samsung done anything to resolve this? Is this just a situation where I've lost as a consumer trying out new technology? I had hoped that being 4th gen this would be resolved.

Mines the same thing but it's the 4th one and they were all refurbished. It started with the battery.

Title: Disappointed with Samsung Fold Series Screen Durability and Support
I’ve owned both the Galaxy Fold 3 and now the Fold 5. Unfortunately, with both devices, the inner screen developed a black line right along the fold before even reaching two years of use. The screen became completely unresponsive and unusable, despite Samsung’s claim that these displays are designed to last five years. That clearly hasn’t been my experience.
Given the significant premium I paid for these devices, this kind of issue is simply unacceptable. I chose Samsung because I believed the brand still delivered the best quality smartphones—especially in the foldable category—but this experience has changed my perception.
After visiting the Samsung service center here in Bangkok, I was told that the screen replacement would cost 15,000 Baht. That’s on top of the already high purchase price. I was shocked that a known issue like this wasn’t covered, and no goodwill repair was offered despite my loyalty as a long-time customer.
As a result, I’ve now switched to the Chinese Harmony V3 foldable phone. It’s significantly lighter, all apps work flawlessly, and it comes at a much lower price point. If the screen also fails in two years, the cost of replacement or upgrading is much more reasonable—and expected.
Samsung, you’ve lost a loyal customer. Had you repaired my Fold 5 screen free of charge, I would have gladly continued with your brand and even considered upgrading to the Fold 7. But based on my experience, I can no longer justify the investment in products that do not live up to their promises.

sorry to hear you issue. I also had inner scream failure after 18months, but only a yrs warranty. I pd the 15000, and ended up with a new frame, new screen, screen protectors in and out. 3 months warranty. Good luck with the new Harmony.

I have blank inner screen as well. Just outside of the 2 years warranty. This is indeed going to be my last Samsung phone.
