My device went through an automatic update on Saturday. When my phone restarted the main screen came on but was unresponsive along with the side buttons. I managed to do a soft reset but that did not work. I tried starting in recovery mode using power/vol up but it will not enter the menu. After several soft resets, I finally managed to get the screen to respond. This worked fine until I closed the phone and reopened it, and the same issue happened again. I have done a factory reset and removed all the apps but the issue remains. I could start the phone in safe mode and that got the screen working but it won't even do that anymore. It is also overheating when charging and when the inside screen is distorted with static lines when closing the phone. I spoke to Samsung support who said it sounded like an app issue, that's the reason I completely wiped the phone, I should state the only apps I had on my phone were banking etc, I haven't installed a new app in 3 months nor updated any of them. The device has not been dropped, damaged etc and is in pristine condition. This occurred as soon as the update was installed. The front screen works fine.

Hi @mchouston83 and may I extend a Warm Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum 👋
I'm just sorry it's under these circumstances that we meet you.
You have carried out most of the self help troubleshooting steps already.
You could either send feedback via your Samsung Members App to Samsung and or arrange for a Samsung Service Centre to assess your phone.
If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask 😎

My phone did the same thing after two months. First the charging port stopped working then two days later it updated and the main screen became unresponsive, that was it. I went without my new phone for three weeks and lost everything on it. I had to purchase another new phone because I went three weeks without one. You have to send it in to Samsungs repair shop in Texas and go through the motions with Customer Service. Trust me, it's backwards from most companies, all the inconvenience will be on you.

- Be prepared for Sanding to tell you it's not under warranty. They'll attempt to extort hundreds of dollars from you unless you complain enough time to enough people to force them to take care of it. Sometimes I don't take care of people. Sometimes they do but every time it seems they try to claim it. It's not their fault. It's yours. The number of people with the same issue seems to have no impact on how they treat their Flip 6 customers.

I am having exactly the same issue. Word by word the same problem. This seems to be a problem on all the z flip 6 phones. Samsung needs to either fix them or do a RECALL.

I have the flip 6 its only 2 months old and the inside screen stopped working after an update. I sent it in to Samsung and they are trying to tell me there is damage. I did not drop it or anything and there is not damage. They are lying. They just don't want to fix it under warranty. There should be a law suit. Its very upsetting.

My phone is barely 3months old, never been dropped. After my latest update, phone screen is unresponsive. Once locked it needs multiple resets and luck to get it working again. Mini screen get heated once the phone is locked and unlocked again. There's no Physical damage to my phone and was working fine till my update last night.

My partner's phone had the same issue this week after the update. After going through Samsung support and getting a ticket we went to the local authorized repair center who wasn't able to get the part in anything close to a reasonable time frame so they recommended we send it to the repair center in Texas. Samsung had been willing to allow us to accept a different color frame it could have been repaired within the day apparently - so that was annoying.
We tried every troubleshooting trick we could find hard reset, soft reset, starting with the phone closed, open, opening it while starting etc.
I was able to get access once in a great while with many variations of rebooting but nothing was consistent, and it got less reliable and less frequent to work very quickly. Like at first you might be able to reboot it for or five times and get one time working, but later you could reboot it 40 times and have it not work any of them.
I was able to complete a smart switch to a new device by starting with the phone open while connected to an HDMI hub with key board and mouse. This allowed me to enter the code to unlock the phone and then the fingerprint sensor continued to work to unlock it while I performed the backup and transfer.
We will see what the Samsung repair center says but it is only a couple of months old and under warranties so we are hopeful they will repair it
