I have a 256GB Z Fold 4 and the system literally takes up half the storage on my device. Any ideas?

Can you post a screenshot of the storage analysis? Is there an info symbol in the Apps row? If so, click on it and allow permission for files. The space will get redistributed between System and Apps.

The system storage usage can be very inaccurate depending on the apps installed. This figure can be misrepresented if the offending apps are not given the usage data access permissions. Check under the Apps info and tell me if there is an "!".

Ah youre right after I did that it made a lot more sense however 43GB still sounds like quite a lot. What's the average GB it should be taking up in a phone like mine?Screenshot_20230210_224411_My Files_1000010943_1676069052.jpg

Samsung phones are know to take up 12-15% of the total storage as System storage. For me, its around 37 GB ( S22+ here). So 43GB seems ok.

You can try cleaning the system cache in the recovery mode menu. It might help you recover some space.

You carryry a lot of junk in your trunk!

What's in the other

System is right size, at 44gb

You have so much on the phone, do you really need to carry that around with you all the time, as it slows the phone down if you go over ⅔ of memory, and you're well past that.

If I helped or solved your problem, please like or tick solved.

Have been using phones since 1993, and am self taught.

I offer advice for free, cos I think it'll help, if it doesn't, explain why, I might learn something new too.

Current phone Galaxy S22 Ultra
Previous phones: most S series, Note 2, Samsung Alpha, iPhone 3gs, far too many Nokia's!

It's perfectly fine to have a full device, these aren't HDDs we're dealing with here. The real issue is if it's a ton of different apps installed rather than sheer capacity.
