After months of deliberation, as well as one failed attempt to buy a fold 6 which ended being a handset from EU, I have been biding my time in whether or not to buy a new fold 6 for my daily phone.
I had the opportunity for 3 days of use to try out whilst i purchased the Fold6, and i was very impressed with it's ability and software experience. It is a well engineered phone and exciting to use and the software is about as good as foldable phones get. Like many others, i do however have my reservations about longevity and handling of such a device, but I am still very keen.
BUT
Then Samsung sent out a curve ball. The public release of the Galaxy Fold SE to be sold only in Korea and China. With some size changes and perhaps some of those features that Samsung fans have been yearning towards. This seemed a strange tact just a month after the Galaxy fold 6 release, but obviously not intended for this western market.
These have now been shipping in their region, and some people have been showing their new hardware on Reddit and other forums. Maybe the new Fold SE is an insight into the next generation of foldable for 2025, perhaps the Galaxy z-fold 7 as it will likely be, in a new form factor and hopefully with other improvements, an S-pen reintroduction perhaps, maybe an integrated Silo holder (which would be great). Who knows what the future holds, but I think i am hopeful that the ZFold7 will follow these design changes.
The Samsung Black Friday deals are pretty good for the Fold6, and other new Samsung tech. Again my itch to spend money started when Is saw the sales discounts last week 😃. I was looking at the fold 6 again with the current offer of £300 discount and a further 5% in top for APP5 discount code. This was the kind of deal I was looking for during the past couple of months.
HOWEVER
I also saw the cracking deals on the newly released Galaxy Tab S10+... 10% off for black friday, a £250 keyboard cover, and a trade in for an old Ipad mini. What a deal !
I questioned myself... "Do i need a foldable phone that does both phone and tablet ?" or "Should I get a tablet to use alongside my S23U ... with both doing their unique job amazingly", rather than a device that does both jobs but not quite as well at either job ?
I have to say this decision was hard, but for now I decided to get the GalaxyTab S10+ with free cover and discounts. At the same time I also took the opportunity to get the Buds3Pro with some heavy discounts for trade in and 20% off buying with the tab.
I LOVE A NEW TECH DAY. looking forwards to receiving these Black friday deals and trying out my S10+ when they arrive. My heart is still invested into a foldable in the future... perhaps the ZFold7 might be that one... for the meantime my excellent S23U, GalaxyTab S10+ and the OneUI seamless integration between the two with quickshare, seems to be the best all around choice for my use.
