Internal Display Issue After Update – Samsung Demands Service Fee Just for Quotation!

Hello Samsung Community,

I recently updated my Samsung [Z Fold 4] to One UI 6.1.1 (Android 14) on 20 January 2025. Since then, I have been facing a serious issue with my internal display:

When I unfold my phone, the internal display turns completely black, but the touch functions still work (I can feel the vibrations).

If I restart my phone, the display starts working again—but as soon as I fold and unfold it, it goes black once more.

This issue only started after the software update, meaning the phone was working perfectly fine before.

Samsung Store's Response – They Blame Physical Damage

I visited the Samsung service center, and without proper diagnosis, they immediately blamed it on physical damage. My phone has never been dropped or mishandled—the only visible mark is a small scratch on the bottom metal casing. How can a minor external scratch cause an internal display failure that only appears after a software update?

To make matters worse:

They demanded ₹350 just to provide a repair quotation!

Samsung Support informed me that a display replacement costs around ₹50,000.

My Concerns

1. If this were truly a hardware issue, why does the display start working again after a restart? A physical failure wouldn’t be temporary—it wouldn’t fix itself after rebooting.

2. The problem only started after updating to One UI 6.1.1. This strongly suggests a software bug, not a hardware issue.

3. Why is Samsung charging customers even for a basic quotation when this issue was triggered by their own software update?

Is This a Strategy to Push Costly Repairs?

This situation makes me wonder—is this update designed to cause screen malfunctions? If many users face this issue, they will be forced to:

Pay ₹50,000 for a display replacement

Buy a new phone instead

Either way, Samsung benefits financially.

What Needs to Be Done?

Samsung should acknowledge this issue and investigate whether this update is causing display failures for other users.

Instead of forcing costly repairs, they should provide a proper software fix or rollback option.

Why should customers pay ₹350 just to get a quotation for a problem that Samsung's update may have caused?

I request all Samsung users to share their experiences if they are facing similar problems. We need answers, not excuses!

Hi and welcome to the U.K. & Ireland section of the Samsung forums @Akshaygawali15 .

I notice that you are quoting prices in Indian rupees (₹), INR, and therefore you may receive a more definitive and helpful reply in the Indian section of Samsung' s forums, here...

I have a Z Flip 6 and am experiencing the same issue as you. I updated to 6.1.1 on 28th January and now 29th January afternoon I started experiencing issues with the display freezing/black screen etc when opening and closing my Flip. I have twice received a "System UI" error message since this started happening which I belive indicates this is software issue and not hardware ( I have only had my ZFlip6 for 4 months and there is no physical damage to the device)
