How to disable whatsapp "checking for new messages" notification

Hi,

I've been constantly harrassed by this rather useless notification that I have no way of turning off, on my older android, I could have disabled it in the notification settings under the "other notifications" line, however, when I try to do it on my flip 4, there is no available option to disable it, where can I do this? it's such an annoying problem

Hi can't you just uninstall WhatsApp from your old phone?

Per app notification options aren't shown if you don't go to the Notifications/Advanced settings and enable "Manage notification categories for each app" option. Mine was disabled by default. When I enabled it and went back to App notifications, there was "Notification categories" settings as a new option, and this is where I can find the "other notifications" option. I've disabled it and I hope it will work now.
