Flip3: Kernel panic

I experienced random reboots with my Flip3. I sent it in, but they determined that it was not a hardware issue but a software issue and recommended a factory reset. I did that, and the reboots stopped for about 1 month, but now they're back. I don't want to factory reset but get an actual fix.

I followed these instructions to collect dumpstate/logcat information right after one such crash. I found these potentially relevant lines in dumpState_F711BXXS4EWB5_{datetime}/dumpstate.txt:

I'm happy to provide more logs, but I'm hesitant to upload everything as it probably contains personal information.

How can I debug the problem? Is it a hardware or a software issue?

No good posting them on here as no one from Samsung will see them as this is a community site. The only thing you can do is to keep sending in your feedback I direct chat

Today, some strange artefacts appeared on my wallapper. A reboot made them go away. I've got a feeling that the RAM has issues.

Hi @thomas-roder. Please send an Error Report, so our colleagues can look further into this.

Can you attach the error logs within 15 minutes of the issue happening with a detailed description of the problem? To send an error log, go into the Samsung Members app > Get help > Error reports > Select a category > Add a detailed description. You can attach screenshots, and videos > Make sure 'Send system log data' is ticked > Tap the send icon in the top right.

see, my random reboots are generally always related to overheating, or too many things active at once (audiobook from audible, and getting multiple messages from multiple texting services). I also had my first reboot loop to almost draining all the battery from 60% to 2% today at work.

But the reboots of my device don't have anything to do with overheating as it sometimes happens when it's not even in use. I don't play games and I never load my battery to more than 85% and almost never let it go below 15%. And how does your lazy hypothesis explain the artifacts on my wallpaper? Also, reboots due to overheating could be easily identified as such, the phone would show a message. And they should be a rare emergency measure, if they happen often, it's also a problem. And I don't have reboot loops, just occasional single reboots.

I submitted error reports through the Members app as suggested by @CarlH on March 26.

I have not experienced the bug in over a month now. From time to time, I experience the phone briefly freezing, which it didn't do before in this way, but doesn't bother me at all. I suspect Samsung found a software workaround for this hardware bug!

If the responsibile dev is reading this, thanks a lot!

#EDIT: The reboots started again... -.-
