Hi, I have a new flip6, it seems only opens to 178 degrees, samsung says it's normal as it is in between 178-181 degrees, depends on the handset. So I guess it's normal? How everyone feels about it? They also said in a few weeks in will start fully open.. thank you

Hi @Members_eXecFLc

It might be stiff due to it being new however as a precaution I'd definitely keep the cooling off period in mind, and don't force it flat.

After a " few weeks " you'll be out of the cooling off period 😎

Edit > Thinking about this more I'd expect the flip to open fully flat from out of the box. 🤔

There will be a tolerance to how it opens.

Personally I would be requesting an exchange in the 14 day cooling off period and not accept anything less.

I'm far from convinced with what you've been told here by Customer Service. A new device should be pristine and work exactly as described, not have a 3 degree tolerance.

Hi and welcome, to clarify are you saying the flip doesn't fully understand flip?

If so who told you, it should unflip flat.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I got this answer from the Samsung Chat:

Tue, 24 Dec 2024 14:51:00 CET

I checked here and the flex hinge used in this device is specified to operate between 178.5 ~ 181.5 degree

My thoughts exactly @Piper123

I knkw there has been other manufacturers of fold and Flip phone's that haven't opened flat which hasn't gone well with the marketplace.

I've used colleagues Samsung Flip phone's and Samsung Flip phone's in Highstreet Network Stores ,and they've opened flat.

It's one of the first things I looked at when I purchased my Fold³ too.

Totally concur and we know what issues the OP could have in a few weeks if something "breaks"........

It's always better to send your phone for repair in the warranty. Hinge should behave exactly as described. Or use exchange if you have one.

Hello again @Members_eXecFLc

I'm so glad you've decided to have the phone exchanged  👍

And yes one has to send the original phone back.  If bought directly from Samsung they'll refund the phone once they've received it, and then you just purchase another new one.

Take care. 😎
