So i switched back to Samsung from Apple and am starting to regret. I have their latest S25 and have many issues but this post is about waking up the phone.

Why do I need to tap the screen repeatedly for the pin screen to come up?

I went to pin unlock because the fingerprint and face unlock are completely useless and i thought it would be quicker to open the phone by just entering the pin. But then this bs. I tap once, sometimes ill get a dim screen, sometimes nothing at all. So i tap and tap and tap tap tap and eventually the pin prompt comes up.

Like wtf? I feel like i have a phone from 2001. I should have just stayed with Apple. Now im stuck with this pos that doesnt even autocorrect words like im or ill doesnt.

What a joke.

Hi and Welcome.

Did you try waking up the phone via the power button?

If not give it a go.

Also it's just a double tap on the screen.

Shame you don't like the finger print..

Out interest which Iphone did you have and the reasons for switching would be interesting.

Fingerprint on the s25 should be almost instant. It even works during screen off. As long as you put your finger on the right spot it's faster than apple face ID. The S series uses an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Where normal scanners get a 2D map, these get a full 3D map. Makes them faster and more secure

Face unlock on android is camera based, it doesn't use the extra sensors iphones have, I wouldn't recommend it.

The double tap thing is a gesture. Double tap to turn screen on double tap to turn it off.

I think you're getting really mad at the phone and pressing so many things so quickly it has no idea what you're trying to do.

For me to unlock my phone. Pickup phone, place finger where fingerprint sensor is, instant unlock.

You can even set your phone to turn the screen on when you pick it up.

The auto correct thing, yeah.... a recent update kinda made it a bit annoying. But with android, just download another keyboard if you don't like the samsung one. SwiftKey by Microsoft or gboard by google are popular alternatives

You might try reregistering your fingerprints
The fingerprint sensor should be really good.
Only problem comes if you do manual work like i do and sometimes my fingerprints get worn down. So sometimes the sensor has read issues. Not the sensor fault.
Auto correct i will admit could do with some updates. But I get on much better than on the apple keyboard that keeps changing words to something different which is massively frustrating at times.

But definitely try redoing the fingerprint registration again. Maybe register the same fingerprint twice to make sure

Hi.
You can use Motion and gestures to customise how to wake up the phone. I highlighted an option that I believe might interest you.1744667328895.jpg

Ok I'll try getting in the habit of opening with the power button, maybe that will work better.

It's not that I don't like the fingerprint, it's that half the time it doesnt recognize my fingerprint. Face recognition is even worse.

I switched in a not very well planned out attempt to boycott us products but I forgot that everything runs with Google on here so...

I was using Apple XS and it was waaaay better than this even if much older.

Thanks, I'll try fingerprint again but I'm thinking I'll still have the problem of actually getting to the fingerprint prompt. I must be doing something wrong. I'll make sure the feature for screen to turn when I pick it up is on.

I tried SwiftKey for about 2 weeks and went back to regular keyboard because it was autocorrecting way too much random words. I'll try gboard.

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community!

Looking through the comments, I found very useful information. My struggle with this is that I don't seem to have these issues—I double-tap, the screen comes on, swipe, and it goes to the screen to enter my PIN. I've attempted to be lazy with it, and it still works.

I have a screen protector, and yet my fingerprint works perfectly. So I'm assuming your device is defective, or it's a classic case of user error (respectfully)—not in the case of your own incompetence, but simply the fact that it's different, and it takes everyone a little getting used to :smiling-face: Maybe with more time with your device, you will get used to the change and enjoy it more—unless your personal needs simply aren't met.

Here are a few tips which should help improve the fingerprint unlock method.

Before applying the following Settings, if you have a screen protector applied after you have set your finger prints. Then you should remove them and then add them again. You could turn up the screen sensitivity option to help with the recognition.

Then set these options, see screen shot
With the Finger Print always on, and the tap to show option both applied, this makes logging in very quick. The screen doesn't need to be on. Just tap once, the fingerprint icon will show, then tap you finger on the icon and you should be logged in. Once you are familiar where the fingerprint sensor is located, with the fingerprint always on. Your can place your finger on the sensors while the screen is off and you will be logged in. 1744756288073.jpg
