My personal guess is that the charger itself has a slight magnetism to it

It's a shame that Samsung didn't go the while hog with Qi² options @Brooklin, however it's definitely a step in the right direction.
I use a Spigen Neo One Magsafe Case on my Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra.
Who knows with the future generations. 🤔
