This device will be locked in 72 hours - trade-in issue.

It's been a couple of days since I received the dreaded 'This device will be locked in 72 hours as it's linked to an incomplete trade-in order...' message.

My old S24 Ultra was sent back in plenty of time, and I subsequently received both the 'received item' and 'phone approved' emails.

But then the Knox notification appeared.

After several emails to help@tradeinresponse.co.uk, including being asked to send the IMEI numbers three separate times, I'm still seeing the notification. Thankfully, it still says 72 hours.

I understand issues can happen, but it seems this style of issue has been happening for years now. Not really the kind of service I'd expect when purchasing a flagship phone.

I did see an earlier post where the person hadn't even set up a Trade-in. They bought on finance and still received that pop up.

I'd still follow this up with Samsung however it does appear to be a glitch @GezIOM

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

Thank you. Yes, a Google search shows multiple different cases, some similar to your example. Other people have been locked out though, which is a little worrying.

Interestingly, I used the 0% finance option too. Maybe that's a factor.

Sorry to hear this issue is still happening. I have to be thankful, this warning never showed up on my device this year round, although the trade in was done within 3 days of the new phones arrival.

@GezIOM: I'm sorry to hear that you have encountered this issue, although you did the right thing by reaching out to the Trade-in Team directly, as they are in the best position to get this resolved for you. They will need to conduct an investigation from their side, however I'm confident that they will be able to unlock your new phone once the necessary checks have been completed. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Thanks for the reply. It is weird as communication is normally good. This is my second trade-in now and last years was fine.
I suppose security has to be ensured, but as it's the trade-in team that send both delivery and approval emails, they must know they've had the phone and approved it. Let's hope it's just a glitch.

You have commented on my post relating to the pop up, despite me not having used trade in at all. Like you I have noticed that the time still says 72 hours despite it being 48 hours since I first started getting the pop up. I'm hoping that is a good sign that this 'glitch' won't result in our phones being locked before we can get it sorted out!

Quick email update from the trade-in team... Fingers crossed.

"Hello,

Thank you for your email.

Samsung have been informed, please allow up to 72 hours for the notifications to cease."

Good news! Although it did refresh earlier this morning, still displaying 72 hours, the notification has now gone. I didn't have to restart or anything, I've just noticed it has disappeared.

Fingers crossed it stays that way.

I suppose, for anyone receiving a similar message in error, just trust the process and use the email shown on the notification. Thanks all.
