Hi,

I've being using iphone for the last 10 years and just moved back over to Samsung.

Am I correct in thinking that the software update process seems a lot worse and slower than it was 10 years ago?

South Korea got the new update about 2 weeks ago and the UK is still waiting?

If this is the case, then I will be ditching the S25 Ultra.

Thanks.

Hi @PongleTheDay

Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum 👋

In my experience the software and security patches has greatly improved.

What we see at the moment is the frustration in regards to the delay of the rollout of Samsung One Ui⁷ to eligible devices.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

It's not the norm, there is clearly a reason for this delay but usually they are regular - although not the same 1 day drop like iphone

No you aren't correct at all. Software updates with Samsung improved immensely in the last 5 years compared to 10 years ago. Anyone who tells you otherwise, never actually had a Samsung device back then. Most are spoilt nowadays with regular monthly updates, which wasn't the case 10 years ago, so you'll find a lot of overexaggerated posts about how it's gotten worse.

Yes I agree with @BandOfBrothers
Updates are a lot better now.
But updates do roll out in batches and different regions get updates at different times.
Partly due to regional differences in software.
But updates started last week and continue to roll out.
The S25 Ultra has just come out so I suppose like usual the roll out initial updates a bit slower in case any major issues crop up. Happens like this all the time. But the S25 series will get into the normal routine soon.
You never know with new devices if serious issues crop up when consumers get their hands on devices.

1. Samsung updates have actually improved in the last 10 years
2. Iphone like same day drop was heavily discussed internally in 2022 but Samsung gave up eventually due to various challenges so this is not changing
3. You have spent loads on S25U so your frustration is well justified, unfortunately it is what it is

As others have said, over the last few years Samsung have moved progressively forward and lead the pack for most part.

Yes, the new One UI7 which has been developed from the ground up for the S25 series is taking longer as it also needs to be developed for older devices. This is not a simple upgrade and needs a lot of work.

One UI7 is built for the future.

No - updates got really fast until the s24 ultra - the s23 ultra got updates within a day - but now they're really slow - you wait 2 or 3 weeks in the uk at least. Samsung is losing it - it's getting lazier and greedier almost as bad as apple.
