Google messages ignoring blocked number list

I have this problem too

I changed my electricity provider recently and 've been receiving a lot of spam calls, which I promptly block on the phone app so it works until they try with another number.

HOWEVER, there is something super annoying with the forced change to Google Messages. It is ignoring the blocked number list so I receive a missed call SMS every time they try to call me and the call is blocked. On my S24 with Samsung messages, blocked numbers were already blocked on the messages app so I got no SMS from those numbers either.

Now on the S25 I have to block the number both in the phone app and the Google Messages app to not get unwanted contact??

Why are they not syncing if it's supposed to be the default messaging app now? That is bullshit

Check Google Messages settings: Open Google Messages, tap the three dots (More) in the top right corner, then go to Settings > Spam protection. Make sure "Verified SMS" is turned on (this helps filter some spam). While there is no direct setting for syncing with the phone's block list, checking this might trigger a refresh or reset something in the app.

2. Clear Google Messages cache and data (use with caution): This can sometimes resolve glitches. Go to Settings > Apps > Messages > Storage. First, try clearing the cache. If the problem persists, you can try clearing data, but be aware that this might delete your message history (so back up important messages first if you are concerned).

This could also very well be due to UI7 not being quite finished yet.

In settings, find Block spam and scam calls, Caller ID and spam protection—this should block unwanted calls on Google too.

May I suggest going to the Members app > Support > Feedback?

Thanks for the suggestions but it's definitely something broken on their side. Spam protection is enabled on Google messages, generic spam lists are probably blocked anyway (I can't tell because I haven't seem to have received any of those). But it's still ignoring the list of blocked numbers, which I have just recently included in the block list, directly on the S25 (not imported from any earlier phones).

And still I get the SMS and it asks if I want to block the number on Google messages....

I would say the best option would be to contact/submit feedback. As mentioned, this could be an issue with UI7, as we are still in the pre-release phase.

Use Samsung messages then, it's available again to download from the Galaxy Store if it was not installed on your S25series
