@gbest: To address this issue, please head to Settings > Advanced features > Side button > Long press > Power off menu (tap to select).
It is also possible to access the Power off menu by swiping from the top of the screen to the bottom, then tapping the Power button in the top right corner of the display.

There prompt says "ask Gemini", along with additional buttons for sharing the screen & asking about what's on it.
When it reverted to assistant, there were no prompts, just the spinning coloured logo at the bottom of the screen waiting for a voice command.

One thing to note is when switching between Google's base assistant, they make you review specific options, so you need to be sure to agree/acknowledge settings for the switch to proceed.
