S25 Headphone Problem

My previous phone was the S8 and it's always driven my wired Philips Fidelio 2 headphones perfectly. I've now moved on the S25 and no 3.5mm socket so purchased the 3 5mm to USB-C adapter and now having low volume issues with them. Bought the adapter which is a "Apple" from Currys and the staff said it will work with the S25. I'm getting about half volume I did with S8 so have checked all settings but nothing seems to work.
Any help very much appreciated.

I suspect that you might require a DAC, this is what I use but I drive pro level Beyerdynamic headphones. Also check to make sure the European volume limiter is not switched on. Let me know how you get on, the DAC i use is from razer, here is the link https://www.razer.com/mena-en/mobile-accessories/thx-onyx?srsltid=AfmBOorTiZ0PM5eC8jiwibQvKEFad6y7p2... you can obviously look for a cheaper alternative, i use this to give me lossless audio.

Without having the exact same parts to also try... it is very hard to advise on something like this.

Compatibility between apple adaptor and phone ? Maybe worth buying an amazon cable and see if that has the same issue ?

Perhaps consider updating to a set of Bluetooth buds ? Understand some like to still use 3.5mm headphones but perhaps it is time for a change.

Have you tried changing the sound settings in the s25 ?

Not really a solution but if I were you I would try another different adaptor. If the problem resolves and it is better, then take the one back to currys.

Hi @GWD

You could also check:

Settings -> Sounds and vibration -> Volume

And slide the media volume to max and/or any other individual settings.

I've borrowed a pair of headphones to eliminate my Philips X2 headphones and the problem of low low volume still exists.

Maybe it's time to ditch the wire and purchase some Bluetooth ones.
But I'll make sure I try before I buy😂

My first Samsung was the Note 8 and at one point I stopped using wired headphones and went Bluetooth, I don't remember when though.

It's unfortunate you have this problem.  You could buy a battery powered headphone amp; those things are small enough you could fit them in your pocket, but that defeats the entire purpose of convenience.

Once you switch to cordless headphones, you'll realize just how annoying those cables can be.
