How to move the app screen search box/bar back to the top?

Just moved to the S25 from S23 and I'm not impressed with OneUI 7.

As far as the app screen/drawer is concerned, I know where all my apps are by muscle memory and only use the search function once in a blue moon. The search bar really should be far away from my fingers at the top like it has always been.

There should at least be an option to select the location of the search bar.

Me too. Also, the search covers the apps at the bottom and isn't a separate box.  Seriously bad design

This update is incrediblely insulting. I wrote a college essay on why samsung was better than apple and it made the professor get a samsung phone. Now, I'm not sure I would even want one. I've owned Samsung devices since the s5 even my TVs are Samsung. This is the WORST update I've seen. Don't mess with the customization of my phone. I had it set in a way that I've been using for years and to tell me to adapt makes me feel insulted. The search bar at the bottom of the app screen is just ridiculous and not not even be able to move it is just idiotic. This is apple league trash. You want your design artists to feel like they did something good but really your user base HATES it except the few weirdos that like this. It needs to be changed. "Samsung possesses an incredible ui that makes you feel in control. The ability to make it uniquely you is something you don't get often these days . I'm proud to support this company for not just it's pioneering ideas but the freedom they let you have. It gives you the feeling like you bought the phone and it's yours, something apple takes away from its users." This is what I felt in 2015 all the way to today now I'm not sure if I can support that sentiment. This is something that needs to be fixed.

super agree, S24 user here just update to UI7

i dont get it easier to use by who, literally when you swipe up to open app drawer your finger/thumb is in the top of the phone, it is easier to tap search bar from there

scenario that i found is when you hold your phone far in bottom but again, you still has to move your finger to the top since the search result is at the top of the screen anyway

please make it possible to move the search bar, i literally tap top of the screen everytime

Yes, samsung give me option to put bar on top. I dont care about no learning curve this is visually so unappealing to me that it makes my eyes hurt. I do not like this change at all. At least give me the option to move it or hide it. I barely use the search bar i like my apps where they are.

This didnt work for me either. I found a way to move it a while ago but can't remember.

Everyone uses their phone differently. For power users like myself having it at the top is essential. It's been this way since the first Samsung. Some may like the one handed approach, or some may like it on the bottom near the keyboard, that's fine. We pay $1,200 plus dollars for these phones, surely that's a simple request for customization?

Absolutely 10000% agree I will not be buying another Samsung phone again. For 10 years my muscle memory is shot and the way the apps are laid out I want my pages alphabetical not one continuous blob. I'm ordering a new iPhone tonight.

So... hear me out. I am a long time user of samsung phones and products. I'm 36 and neurodivergent as they like to say. I as a human who very much enjoys consistency and doesn't mind spending the time after necessary updates (with unnecessary things) to move things back and/or actually change a few things. Just like today. I usually keep my home screen locked. I fall asleep on my phone reading sometimes and have been known to randomly have things changed on the screens and stuff because I've rolled around on it. (I don't suggest any of this) So I have in fact adapted to checking to make sure my phone(s24+) is still in working CONSISTENT order. 

Now that we are up to speed. I've noticed a LOT of first time posters (myself included) that have joined to share their distaste for the newest update, of which I got this morning. I have changed things on my home screen. Will need to adapt to that. Have removed Bixby (I despise it) and Gemini (probably won't ever use it) because as a personal choice they aren't really needed for me. Easy peasy. See? Adapting. It's the damnest thing what we can do when given options to do so. But to be told to do it after having an unnecessary and honestly unhelpful thing forced on us with no way to change it is VERY  frustrating for people who intend to give you money. 

The search bar in the app screen is literally the least used thing I have there. It's crazy but after over  10 years of having a samsung phones, I believe, I've only used that thing MAYBE  7 times. So... yeah this (un)helpful thing you've forced on me is not smart. Not only in the span of a day have I hit it over 20 times, it interrupts and wrecks whatever I have been in the middle of doing to jump up a keyboard I didn't ask for with a whole new page of things. That are now all in my way and hindering me from completing my original goal. In my mind(as different as it is), even I can see how unhelpful and unnecessary this is. And yes. It has definitely aggravated me. 

So really having said all of this (in the nicest way possible) please do us all a favor and give us options. Let us move it back to the top if we want. I'm begging you. I will be patient for an update to fix this but will not hold my breath as it seems there are more issues that need to be fixed other than this as well. 

Also I should state that I do use my phone one handed at times as well as two handed. When I use it one handed it is at perfect level of that search bar(of which I explained earlier that I don't use or need). There does infact lie the problem for me personally. 

I also should not have to download another app situation to MAYBE fix the issue at had. This is not a video game. We are not adding mods to get quality of life to be better in our phone systems. They should be worked on and improved by the company that made and released them. I will not be downloading random stuff like that to have things that should work in the first place just work. This is not Bethesda. (JK, Love you Bethesda)
