Google Wallet only works when I open app

New S25 Ultra, and I can't figure this out. Added a card to Google Wallet. It says it's setup correctly, everything is ticked, NFC on, Wallet is default, etc. however when I go to pay, nothing happens. Only when I open Google Wallet does it spring to life and work. It's not a verification issue, just nothing happens at all, as if the phone hasn't registered a card reader is present.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and all that, but not something I can easily test, as I have to go and buy another coffee every time but it still fails to respond when waving it over a card reader. Any suggestions?

Got my S25 Ultra, same problem. On my S23 Ultra it works without problems. Tried the battery "fix" didnt work..

Yep, same issue with my S25 Ultra. Google Wallet set up exactly the same as my previous S23 and it all worked fine then.

Any news regarding this frustrating tap to pay not working issue? It's a bit tiring to fight with the payment terminal while the queue behind is growing 😐😄

This is just stupid! After the April update, things are even worse! 

Gemini says the issue is b/c of a conflict between oneui 7 and Google wallet in managing NFC.

Maybe you should check your permission settings for the google wallet app. I experienced the same problem and by turning on the permissions needed, the app worked flawlessly.  According to info provided by google, google wallet needs: location, nearby devices, camera, and phone.

Nearby devices is, i think, the most important to get things to work!

Please let us know if this was the solution to your problem, because it solved mine.

Thanks for your response, but it seems this is a specific Samsung S25 series problem which probably has to be resolved by either Samsung or Google.

2 days already I have no problems with Google Wallet. What I've done? Just configured battery optimization option for GW: set "Unrestricted". Can't beleave it is working finally after several month of experiments.

I haven't begun to read through all the posts, but the first place I would look would be the settings in the bank app that the card is attached to.
