I have had the same issue. I have tried every setting change I can find. I used smart switch and oops forgot to back up old timeline and that phone has been reset and gone. I am not going to factory reset my new phone aat risk of losing everything I actually need. Clearly an issue on S25+ as well.

I used smart switch from Note20 Ultra to S25Ultra and although I reset the application deleting all data and cache and importing from my older device the problem remain. So the problem is not fixed. BTW this post and as well as the entire community site can not be viewed by Microsoft edge and I needed to switch to Chrome to access it!!!

It seems like a global glitch. On my huawei p30 it also does not work.

I have the same problem as everyone else - Samsung S22.
I use my timeline to retrospectively book on and off at work. I opened the app up on the 6th of March and noticed all my old timeline data was gone and nothing being recorded going forward. Checked every setting under the sun and managed to import the backup to show all my old timeline events. However since then the timeline recording has been sporadic. It seemed to record daily ok until I imported the backup on the 9th of March, since then I can't get it to log daily activity.
I find this particularly annoying as once Google warned us they would be changing the settings I ensured I had everything correctly selected so it should all be fine going forward (was devastated at first when I thought I'd lost all my timeline data). I am relieved to hear that it seems to be a wider problem - I have send feedback via the app.
Fingers crossed they get it sorted soon

I guess it must have happend due to Google Maps app update on 7th of March. Cause since then it's gone. The same for my Galaxy S25 and my wife's Huawei P30 (the same date of app update)... Has anyone of you tried to uninstall the fresh version of the app or just use any before 7th of March?
