Hi! I have noticed that Google timeline isn't logging in the places visited. I have done all the troubleshoot google suggested (location turned on, clearing cache, updating map app etc) but the problem still persist. Can this be a bug or something?

Hey me too! 🤣 Its good to know that I'm not the only one. I just sent a feedback to google about it. I will post it here once they reply to me.

Hi, I'm not sure if this has worked or what exactly I did, but I cleared the cache for maps in the memory section, went back into maps and it ran me through location services again, and the only options for locations where "whilst using the app / ask / never" but then I went into settings and I suddenly got a fourth option of "all the time". I'm not sure of it worked as I haven't been out yet, but the location dot on maps is now much more responsive.....ill try and replicate what I did, but it was something like, clear cache, re-setuo, and then change location permissions....

Try going into apps - maps - permissions - location and the select "allow all the time" see if that works.

I'm afraid I've done that too. I also uninstalled previous maps updates, google play services etc however its still not detecting anything. Usually it will detect my home address if I'm at home1738846169378.jpg

That's weird. The only thing I can suggest is turn on Bluetooth location.

The other aspect that I can think of, is when I was looking at registered devices on my account, Google still recognised my old phone as the primary phone on the account for signing in etc. I signed out of the old phone, done a factory reset, gone onto Google accounts, and tried my best to remove it, but I do wonder whether Google is only saving location from that phone and not fully recognising the new phone. Sucks for me that I've already posted my old phone off for the trade in. If you've still got yours, go through it and make ***** sure everything is signed out and disassociated from your Google account. Make sure your new phone is the only phone on the account.

I did look into that. I have multiple registered devices(tablet, phones and watch) on my google account however with my old phone set up I only have 1 device for location back up (which was initiated by google last year as per their e-mail). On my new phone, after I have done a back up of my history, I deleted it from that phone. Based on what I have read so far, timeline will only record locations of that specific phone and won't show on other devices unless you have initiated back up.. My main problem is its not recording anything at all. I can use maps for directions etc but its not tracking where I've been to. I am truly stuck.

I saw this from US community. I wonder if this could work? I can't try it til monday myself as I'm away.

UPDATE: I have done this and my timeline is now sorted. I did not use the smart switch for the initial set up and when I confirmed that timeline is working that's when I have backed up via smart switch and everything is working now1738922948318.jpg

Same issue here with S25, transfered through smart switch from S20. Now I dont want to go through the full bloody setup. I m gonna wait for any solution from google or samsung.
