Galaxy S25 vs. Xiaomi Redmi 10 - CAMERA quality

Today I did the focus chart test and compared the S25 camera to the Xiaomi Redmi 10, a phone released in August 2021 for around 200€. I can’t stress enough how bad the S25’s photos look compared to the Redmi 10, especially the 0.6x ultrawide camera on the Redmi 10 looks much better and clearer compared to the S25’s 0.6x ultrawide. This can’t be true, right? What the hell is wrong with the S25’s camera??? 😟😧

I'm also concerned because I noticed in GSMArena's review of the Galaxy S25 that their unit was plagued by some kind of lens misalignment issue as also noted on their YouTube video.

This is a follow up of my testing comparing the Galaxy S25 to the Huawei Mate 9. Discussions and photo tests were also conducted on the other Samsung community forum post.

Mhm, going back to camera assistant. With default settings, the phone detects the environment and distance, then picks the best lens for the job. So 3x zoom doesn't just use the zoom lens; it uses whatever the phone picks as the best. That might be cropping in on the 1x lens.

Camera assistant actually lets you disable the auto-picking, though I wouldn't suggest it. It's a really neat feature of the phone, trying different combinations to get the best shot.

Where older phones just used the main lens or the zoom lens, they didn't have the smarts to pick the best one.

Yes, that's just about what I said, just with different words, I recognise in a more techy way, but the same idea.

Do you know how I could transfer photos taken from the showroom display S25 to my S25 so I can check the photos on a bigger screen at home? The showroom S25 is locked to the table via USB-C cable, so I wouldn't be able to connect it via cable to a PC at the store.

Maybe you can ask the shop customer assistant in the shop, maybe you can transfer via Bluetooth or WiFi.

Thanks for the suggestion. I hope there will be no compression during the transfer.

There is no compression as you transfer from the same model. Don't do it without asking for permission as the device belongs to the shop and I don't think it's permitted to do that.

Thanks. I will visit the store in the next few days, but this whole situation has made me very very disappointed with my purchase and (not yet entirely) ruined the idea of ever having a Samsung phone again... 😒
