Software updates are sent out in waves by Samsung so not to overwhelm their servers.
This is typically pushed out to eligible phone's, region dependant, in relation to the phone's serial and build number.
In some instances if the phone was supplied by a network, then that Network may hold back an update until they have tested the update to ensure it does not clash with their network apps and features.
I'm sure you'll both recieve the update soon.
