TPlink USBC Ethernet Adapter not recognised by Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

Hi

I bought thus TPlink USBC ethernet adapter (UE300C) to use my phone to provide Internet to wifi router. I was planning to activate ethernet tethering. But the adapter is not even recognised by the phone. 

When I plug the same adapter into my Tab S8+, it's instantly recognised and I can activate ethernet tethering on it.

Just wondering why is it not recognised by the S24 Ultra. Both have phone and tablet have USB 3.2.

Any help would really appreciated.

You might need an OTG cable to go with it. Link for information only. Consider buying a better quality cable.

I don't get it, if you wanted to provide internet for your wifi router, why not just make your phone the wireless hotspot instead?

Your battery will drain quickly, might as use the USB C for power?

Prolonged use like this will kill your battery

I am trying to work out what's worst, using phone as a hotspot or tethering to home router

I have tried multiple brands.  None work on my s24+.  Samsung doesn't sell one.  The useless Samsung Filipino support center, despite significant escalations, cannot demonstrate any success on any other s24+ device.  There seems to be no evidence of any 3rd party product ever being proven to work with the current version of OS.

Because thos premium product (the +S24) is supposed to have this paid for capability.  

Because there are many cases where one might want to have a direct connection.

Examples:

a) testing an ethernet cable, port or connector.

b) using a faster connection then otherwise available.

The Amazon branded USB-C to ethernet adapter worked on my S24 Ultra. I was able to activate tethering. The TP link didn't work
