The latest software update (installed 5th May 2025) for my Samsung S24 (so annoyed and disappointed)

Today (well, yesterday actually) I received a notification to install a new software update on my 'only just recently purchased' Samsung S24 mobile phone. Like most Samsung users would do, I agreed to and installed this latest Samsung / Android mobile phone update, thinking that the upgrade would make improvements to my mobile phone etc.

Well, immediately after this new software upgrade installation was completed and my phone restarted and was operational again much regret came upon me. This latest software upgrade by Samsung / Android has completely changed the on screen look and features of my phone (that I've always been use to with Samsung). I seriously regrate ever installing this latest software upgrade and despite my desperate attempts of doing lots of searches online, for ways of rolling-back / reversing this latest software upgrade have all been unsuccessful. If you are a Samsung user, take note here and be warned about this!

Like most customer service help or responses these days being very minimal or totally non-existent, I'm not expecting any help or offer of assistance from Samsung itself or whether this (now, regrettable) software download / upgrade I made, can or will be fixed by Samsung.

Im in my twenties and somehow have the ability to comprehend change better? Weird thing to try point at what gen im from crying over a phone update.

Reality is- changes happen- thought youd understand that by now. Why only do it for newer phones? Did you not see the moaning over it taking so long to go onto the older phones?..

You do realise the majority of "change" is due to google. So- your ignorance is funny- "im mad at samsung for changes they didnt even control- so im going to move to a different Android...who google also develop Android for" 😂

iOS seems to be the best bet for you—caution—they also do updates and change drastically.

Have fun with your "insert phone brand here", I for one hope you find what you're looking for. This is a forum for Samsung customers and we are here to try help resolve any issues (not complaints) you may have. If you've decided to leave Samsung, this changes nothing to other Samsung members.

It's been so consistent, I think you have to be daft to not understand the minor nuances between versions. I literally can pick up my S8+ on OneUI 1 and do all the settings, features and usability options in practically the same way I can with my S25 Ultra in OneUI 7. Honestly who are you to call someone else daft, if you think there's that much change?

yep, I had to turn my phone off and walk away for awhile.  I still have no idea on what I'm going to do now.  All I have is a $800 brick.

You are absolutely right about the smartphones.  They are becoming a waste of money for most people I think.   I paid $800 for a flip 5 that I've discovered isn't really mine at all.  It belongs to some nameless geek who can do whatever they want at any time for any reason.  Other than security updates, there is no reason to overhaul my phone into something that I now detest.  I will be searching for a "stupid" phone that hopefully will be left alone.  It won't be a Samsung.

Like leaves rustling in the wind, I'll add my bit of noise.  The sheer number of posts here and everywhere else I looked to figure out how to do things I was doing perfectly fine since I bought my expensive S24 demonstrates to me that Samsung made a big mistake.  My brand loyalty has just vaporized.  In my family, I have convinced my wife and two sons over the past years to use Samsung phones.  Now, I regret not having bought a much cheaper Vivo or Xiaomi, although I can't be sure that they're any better when it comes to forcing UI changes on owners of existing phones that are perfectly happy with what they bought and learned how to use.  I could write about a lot of little things that has irked me (the miniscule and much harder to read charging capsule at the top right being one of them), but what was the last straw just now after a couple days of relearning and fixing issues related to the UI update was that I went to turn on Notification History, and the phone locked up.  The screen didn't react any longer to any touch I tried to execute.  OK, I'll just press my lovely POWER button, no?   Fat chance - One UI 7 developers in their infinite wisdom have turned that button into some AI control now!  That didn't respond either.  Fortunately, as sometimes happens after pushing buttons and angry comments some more time, the screen popped up in lock screen mode and I was able to get control back.  Then I could read how to reconfigure my Power button (sorry, it is called the "Function" button) to be my power button again.  Good bye Samsung.  The next phone definitely won't be one after many years being a loyal customer.
