Super charging with a cable ... is this normal?

I unexpectedly found my phone at 0 percent battery.  (This might be another post, I'm not sure.)

At any rate, no pun intended, I'm charging the phone, it's up to 91 percent at the moment.

The screen is black but at the very bottom I can see the percent of charged battery and under that, the number of minutes until full.

If I were to place my hand over the front facing (selfie) camera, the charging information dims.  I realize this isn't a major issue but in Settings / Display, Adaptive brightness is disabled.  Is this a normal sequence of events?

I hope your problem will be solved soon. Have you downloaded the latest update? It's available now.

It's not really a problem, I just thought it odd.

Thanks for the heads up for that update, I just installed it.

You are welcome.
I have downloaded the update on mine but haven't charged my phone since.
Depends how low was the battery before you noticed it was 0% and to monitor if there really is a problem with your battery, I hope you get support from Samsung. The phone is doing things in the background anyway even if the screen is off and we don't use it actively. One thing I do these days, I am turning off data and just leave the sim activated, and I use the back up phone and vice versa, I do it to protect the battery life on both phones, and thankfully I love both of them to use them.
But again, if the battery is broken, you should get support for it. Keep us updated.

I just noticed my phone is doing the same thing. I don't know why it does it and if it's affecting the charging in any way, I think it might be just a sensor thing.

I'm not sure what you mean by the screen dims, however I will say, whenever you switch the phone off (without using AoD) and are charging your device, it will always display the charging % and time to charge. There's been no change with that. Putting your hand over the ambient light sensor doesn't change the brightness (at least it doesn't have that affect on mine). I do note that the brightness though is dimmer than previous Samsung device in this mode, but the sharpness and clarity/detail in the font is much greater on the S24.
