Hi everyone

I'm switching from a Motorola Edge 30 ultra to S24 Ultra and normally I would take the Google backup route (which has worked fine in the past) for transferring data/setting up new phone but will Smart switch be better (more settings transferred etc) or should I just stick to Google once I get my new phone?

Thanks in advance.

Okay, so there will be a benefit in starting with Google and then run Smart switch afterwards? I'm new to Samsung so was under the impression that Smart switch was "just" Samsungs tool for switching and not a supplement to Google backup?!

I forget which one does what, but there's no harm in backing up on both and restoring both. Makes sure all is covered!

I've always used Smart Switch and it's transferred everything over with absolutely no issues

How do you do both?

Smart switch first or second?

What's the point of doing both? What does it achieve.

Either first. I'm sure one backs something up that the other doesn't. There's literally nothing to lose by jusu doing it.

Even at year 2024, its not true. There is BIG difference in correct order which one first. For apps its better to start with smarswitch, then restore from google acc. google doesnt restore app settings/progress etc. SmarS doesnt cant overwrite restored content, so you end up with few factory reset until you get correct order.

But for rest of the content, it doesnt matter.
