Several app icons appear misaligned quite often

Hi.

It's happening quite frequently & i'ts quite annoying: some app icons (not the same ones every time) appear to be misaligned vertically (located lower than other icons). It happens regardless different display settings (screen resolution, screen zoom, font size, home screen background) and regardless different grid size (a x b) settings.  It's happening on the home screen, in the app drawer and in the app folder.

The icons only realign with resting the phone or with changing some of the display or grid settings.

It's obviously a bug. A very annoying one. Samsung, fix it asap.

Btw, I find S24+ UI One 6.1 Android 14 quite buggy. I hope Samsung will provide updates with bugs fixed in the following weeks.

Best regards,

Greg

@GREMIH are you using the Default Theme on the phone 🤔

Hi @BandOfBrothers

Yes, I'm using the Default Theme, having no Color Pallette activated, using a stock launcher, while my wallpaper is just a plain pitch black jpeg pic (res: 1024 x 785).

Mind I have identical settings (also using the same pitch black jpg for my wallpaper) on my S10e with UI One 4.1 and Tab S9+ with 6.0 - no similar issues with the misaligned app icons there whatsoever.

It's a bug in UI One 6.1 stock launcher, I guess.

Can you try Safe Mode as a troubleshooting step @GREMIH

Safe Mode  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-start-my-galaxy-device-in-safe-mode/ turns off downloaded apps and themes etc which may highlight an app or theme that's causing conflict.

I'm not seeing this glitch on my phone so I'm not sure.

Yes, @BandOfBrothers , I've tried to run the phone in the Safe Mode, and the problem is still there. Wiping the Cache Partition also didn't solve the problem.

Mind I have identical settings & identical apps on all 3 my devices yet the problem is present & it persist only on S24+. Also mind both Tab S9+ & S24+ have been set up with Smart Switch from my S10e.

I'm a bit in the dark.

Did you use Samsung Smartswitch ? I ask as this has been knlw occasionally to cause issues @GREMIH

If you haven't already can you send this as feedback via your Samsung Members App to see if Samsung can help.

@BandOfBrothers , yes I did use Samsung Smart Switch from my S10e to set up my new S24+. But mind I also used SmartSwitch via S10e to set up the Tab S9+. All apps & settings on all 3 devices are now the same while only S24+ is having this particular issue with misaligned app icons.

I've already connected Samsung via Members, and I'm still awaiting their response.

Do you think it's an option to factory reset and then don't set the phone up from a back up or Smartswitch, but instead download your apps manually from the Playstore  / Galaxy Store to see if this helps or not ? 🤔 @GREMIH

Hi @BandOfBrothers , there always an option to perform a factory reset & set the phone from scratch. 😁

But it's quite a radical move since everything is wiped out & has to be set again. That's a very time consuming process IMO. If the problem with icon misalignment persist I'll be forced to factory resent the phone in the end and observe if the problem goes away. I'm not at that point yet though. Mind the icon misalignment i  just an aesthetic & not a functional issue (in comparison to this functional issue that's also bothering me: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s24-series/video-call-effects-not-available-on-s24-ui-one... )

I totally understand and appreciate @GREMIH in that the process I've pointed to is a last resort one could take.

Personally I set my phone's up using my Samsung Cloud back up and only use Samsung Smartswitch to move my Gallery over which hasn't of yet presented me with any issues.

I look forward to hearing how you've got on with this 🤞🤞
