S24U notifications don't work until I wake device

I have set the phone to not put apps to sleep, and also set the apps to have unrestricted battery usage. I still don't get their notifications on time, or at all, until I wake the device. Sometimes I am seeing messages multiple hours late because my phone simply doesn't notify me until I actively check it. This has been a problem since release, and on March update it remains a problem. Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you checked notification settings and battery settings? Worth checking these as your phone will switch off data when not being used

Which notification settings in particular? I can't see any relating to sleep/not in use/etc. and the notifications for the apps themselves are all enabled - they do come through once I've woken the device and it has a moment to catch up. I really don't want it disconnecting if I've set it down though - my previous phone didn't do that so I was able to actually be notified when something was happening that needed my attention.

I also can't see which battery setting would be related that I haven't already changed to be unrestricted/don't sleep/etc. but maybe there's a particular one I'm missing?

See the screenshot, have you checked these setting?

I have these settings here - WiFi power saving is disabled and turn on/off automatically also disabled - I keep WiFi itself on. Do these settings seem like they would cause this issue?

Try switching off the prioritise real time data and see what happens
