Hello,, I've just received my S24 Ultra and compared to my S21 Ultra the colours on the S24 Ultra are washed out and not as Saturated?, I've adjusted all the display settings and still cannot get the colours to match the older S21 Ultra, I've contact samsung uk customer service they went through Smart Tutor and couldn't find anything amiss has anyone else found this to be the same on their S24 ultra? I'm not sure if Samsung UK are aware of this issue? And whether a software update will solve it?, I suspect it's the new Gorilla glass amour glass which is anti-reflective which is great but not at the expense of colour, I'm seriously considering returning the S24 ultra and keeping my S21 Ultra

Sounds like they are doing a Post Office approach I.e. you are the only one who has complained! On chat I was told they are aware and Product Specialist team are looking into it. One is telling BS

Hi All,

I wanted to try to get together an aggregate post to bring the state of the display to their attention.

On the homescreen or app drawer the colours are awful. But put content on and it's great.

I did a side by side with my S22 Ultra and when playing videos or in apps the S24 is brilliant but on the homescreen it's hot garbage.

It appears to be software not hardware which you can see by...

Pull down the notification area and you'll see it's all dull. Open Instagram and a comments section. Then pull down the notification area and you'll see that the area looks as you'd expect.

I don't think it's anything to do with the glass or the screen as some assert. I think it's a stupid software glitch.

Also Samsung for the love of all that is holy, give us some real options to adjust the display. 2 modes that are hardly any different is not enough. We need to be able to adjust brightness contrast saturation etc.

EDIT...

I think the issue is there's ZERO difference when you switch between vivid and natural.

It's like it's stuck on natural.

Changing wallpaper does nothing. Turning off or on the adaptive stuff does nothing. If you try to adjust colour temp or the individual colour sliders.. it does nothing.

I've asked 2 colleagues about their experiences and theirs are identical.

Edit 2...

WHEN YOU WATCH CONTENT THE BLACKS ARE INKY THE COLOURS ARE VIBRANT. THIS IS IN THE UI. IT CANNOT BE HARDWARE. IT CANNOT BE THE GLASS. IT CANNOT BE THE COATING. IF IT WERE ANYTHING BUT SOFTWARE IT WOULDN'T LOOK AWESOME IN SOME CASES AND BAD IN OTHERS.

Capitalised because I am sick of people saying what about the blacks or it must be the screen. It is software. Fullstop.

It is also NOT BRIGHTNESS. It is DULL COLOURS.

It is a software issue - the brightness is fine looking at pics then you see it dull when you go to exit

Seen a few posts laugh off people being unhappy with the display vibrancy. Why?

Whilst the new S24 Ultra's display may suit some people's personal preference, there are plenty of people who would prefer a vibrant display than a natural look. Hence why this feature was there for many years.

So this needs to be respected by people and not laughed off, as many are sharing the concerns.

This issue is a bit weird. It seems to only affect the home screen and notifications / notification bar on my phone, rather than the whole thing. If I put a an HDR video (e.g. "Color Burst HDR Dobly Vision 12k 60FPS" on YT), both phones pop just like you'd expect, there are minor differences but not really anything notable. Same if I use an app, like really minor differences which I attribute to the minor differences in the panel, brightness etc. What made me chuckle is when I get a notification on both phones whilst watching a video, they look entirely different in colour, like wtf? Something is baked into the colour scheme of the OS which is not present in applications.

It's just wild how different my homescreen looks. It's like going from an OLED to a VA panel.

I'm having the same issue ..I used to control my colours through the colour adjustment setting - personalized colour, but they've taken that setting away on the 24 ultra... So now everything is washed out and I find colours are not represented properly.. But when looking at a photo in Google photos it goes super contrasted?? I'm confused and annoyed..contemplating returning this phone because it's driving me nuts, my s21 ultra screen looks way better.

Actually just observed this just now, if you play a vibrant video in YT, and then minimize it to picture in picture (on your homescreen) you can literally watch as the image goes from vibrant to washed out looking. When you maximise it again, it transitions into "vibrant" as it goes full screen.
