S24 Ultra - Loss of detail when using 50 MP camera

Phone: Samsung S24 Ultra

Photos: The following images were taking using the 5x Zoom lens at 12 MP and at 50 MP.

Settings 

Camera Application: Image optimisation is set to 'minimum' & scene optimiser is off.

Gallery Application:  super HDR is also off. 

Following raising the issue with Samsung I was told there is no issue with "incredible S24 Ultra" as:

1. the camera test on *#0*# was fine 

2. I cleared the camera app cache

3. Performed a soft reset 

4. Ensured phone was running latest software

5. And finally after persisting with questions... Performed a factory reset

All leads to the same result as seen below. 

Issue 

Aside from the noticble colour shift that occurs when using the 50MP camera.

counter intuitively, when using the 50 MP camera, there is a complete loss of detail within the photos I take. 

This can be observed below with some test shots I took just now.

 

 

When zooming in on the resulting image, there is a complete loss of detail in the 50MP photo as seen with the barcode below.

 

Is this a common issue?

Or is my phone faulty?

I have an A13 and it has the same loosy effect.  
No matter whether the environment is bright or dark, no photos are taken, bad pictures are "painted" by a bad painter .

There is nothing to do with that? Pictures are unreal, the colors are yellow and definitely not the same as in real, totally not the same in 12 MP - 50 MP its totally trash. I will return my phone, becouse my old S21 FE takes better photos. And i have even few more issues with S24+. What phone should i take? Iphone, Pixel, Xiaomi 14T?

The issue with zooming in any mode but 12m, results in 12m Croo. Even when your in 50m. The photos are not 50m. When you have camera assist app, they will be upscaled and keep being 50m. Also happens in Pro Mode and also in the export raw app. Everything past 1x zoom, will be saved as a less mp photo than 50m. It's kinda ridiculous!

Simply test it, make a photo 5x zoom in 50m. Go into gallery and swipe up, noticed the image resolution and mp. It's not 50m, it's now 12m. The conventions from 50m to 12m adds a ton of compression artifacts

Hi! I know that some time is gone from when you posted this but i saw some strange things with the 50MP mode in 5X zoom...now some shoots are so softened...and the colours are distorsioned. I made an self portrait in artificial light with 1x and 5X...and the colours where distorsioned, very artificial looking like 1000 efects where applied applied...i don't have the shots anymore to show you...but is very weird...sometimes the 50mp and 200mp are distroing the photos...the poat processing of the photo itself...ia just crazy...

This is a common issue - try to take photos, and you will see that the post-processing software (which was obviously never tested before rolling out) produces only garbage photos - with totally distorted colours/sharpness. Samsung does know about the problem, but does not care.
