S24 Ultra GNSS

Hello!

I've seen mixed results online about whether the S24 range (specifically the ultra) has GNSS capability. Some say samsung are developing it for their S25 range, others like Wikipedia say it has it.

Can anyone confirm if the phone does indeed have GNSS, and is there a built in function for it, or are there any apps you'd recommend that would be useful offshore in say the north sea?

There are not many use cases for it and those who have implemented it have limited functionality.

If that what drives you to buy a phone then perhaps wait and see how it progresses.

It's definitely gonna go mainstream in the future.

From what I read the S24U has GNSS integration, it is available on the phone for emergency situations when you cannot reach ground mobile signal. I don't know who tested though.
I think the most appropriate person to answer this for you is a Samsung Mod who can tell you for sure if it's working or not for real life situations.

If you really need this feature, there are special phones designed only for GNSS that you can buy. Google it.

Yeah, I already have the phone and a family member mentioned it. We're going on a sailing holiday this year so it was a surprise to realise it had it

Does anyone know how it can be used? I'll be offshore, so preferably apps that work with pure satellite

Turn on developer mode.

Settings > About > Software information > Build number ( Hit multiple times; message on screen tells you how far until developer mode ) > Back out to settings screen > Scroll all the way down to develper mode > Scroll all the way down to  Force full GNSS measurements to on
