I updated my phone on the 21st may to the latest UI 6.1 update and now it keeps freezing.
The home screen will freeze, the home button and back key stops working, the on and off button on the side of the phone stops working. Strangely the pull down menu still works so I have to restart my phone from there. The 'recents' button (the 3 lines at the bottom left side) occasionally works, but then it just overlays the home screen wigits on whatever app I was using before, and freezes again.
It's definitely a latest update issue, as nothing else is new on my phone. Never had this issue before the update.

Anyone else have this issue or a solution please?

update: 15/08/24 - freezes via the camera app now... Occasional home freezes. I sent in a report back when I wrote this and only got a 'recieved' but no reply

I also am experiencing the same issue. The phone is freeze few times a day and need to restart it. When the phone freezes i can switch between home pages but nothing else, when I try open apps it would open overlaying the hoke screen. It's very annoying and should not happen when i spend this much on a phone

I'm having that issue myself. Sent it off for repairs, it came back. They tried replicating the issue I reported, but to no avail.

I mean, what else do I do. Send it back for yet another repair and get told the same thing. That's what EE are recommending I do.

If it is the UI causing these issues, then it's not acceptable.

Had to manually go in and update all my apps. I had about 20 that needed to be updated.  Once complete, the glitchiness has resolved itself. Also, try clearing your cache.

I'm having the exact same issue after updating.  I tried resetting to factory defaults but the problem still exists.

Update. Have sent my device in for another repair, and according to tracking, they've delayed the repair as awaiting parts to be delivered. Did hear that the update can cause motherboard issues

I've been having this issue for a number of days now, since updating to UI 6.1. Unlocking my screen, the lock screen UI disappears, but the lock screen wallpaper still displays on top of everything else, so I can't see my home screen or apps. Sometimes I still interact with the app that is hidden behind the wallpaper. But tapping the home screen, back, or app switch buttons doesn't have any visible effect.

Also sometimes, i'll launch an app, and it launches behind the home screen icons, but is also seemingly unresponsive. Only a restart temporarily resolves it. I've also tried clearing the cach partition, but it makes no difference.

I'm hesitant to do a factory reset, because it's a pain to set my phone back up. I shouldn't have to do that when it's very likely a bug in the latest update.... Have submitted an error report via the members app. Such an annoying bug...

Update: Did a cache cleanup, it stayed bug free a bit longer, one or two days tops, but then happened again. Manually updated all apps in the app store like MarkL1 mentioned and now it's four days without freezing. If I don't come back to this topic to report another freeze it means cache cleanup + updates solved it for good.

Same issue started today. Did phone update, app update, reset phone, cleared caches, cleared partition caches, safe mode (still froze/rebooted). Freezes/reboots approx every 10 mins. Haven't factory reset as that hasn't worked for others. Any other suggestions.?

I've resorted to using Nova Launcher, which has resolved the issue. Bonus is I'm able to customise my folders to a more useful look (amongst many other things).
