l want to bring to your attention a concerning issue I have encountered with my recently received Galaxy s24 Ultra, which I pre-ordered on samsung.com and received on January 24th.

Upon using the device, I have observed a significant image shift problem when switching between zoom lenses (3x,5x etc) in auto mode. Also I have noticed a barn door  type of transition happening in the camera viewfinder while switching to 3x and 5x lenses. Despite my attempts to replicate the issue in Samsung store devices, I was unable to do so. This leads me to believe that the problem lies within the hardware of my device indicating a potential defect. I'm not sure this is something that could be fixed over a software update either.

I have also come across multiple instances on social media, such as the tweet linked below, where other users are experiencing the same camera issue: [Link to Twitter post: https://twitter.com/smasithick/status/1752733526586491319.]

As a loyal Samsung user for an extended period, I am disappointed that such a quality concern exists in a flagship device. I have high expectations for the performance and reliability of Samsung's products. and this issue falls short of those expectations.

I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a swift resolution.

Issue 1: Barn door transition
Here you can clearly see that the barn door transition happening while switching from 2x zoom to 3x and from 3x to 5x. The transition itself starts from the center and expand to all edges of the viewfinder.

Issue 2: Camera Shift
Here you can clearly see that the image inside viewfinder shifts while switching from from 3x to 5x and vice versa.

If you go into the support section and phone diagnostics
There you can do a test on the cameras.
If the issue is still apparent, then go into the feedback section and provide feedback there explaining the issue fully
You might have to contact Samsung Customer Support and book the phone in. If you have a participating Samsung Experience Store near you. You can book a slot to get it looked at

I have added the screen-recording of both the issues to the original post.

I have issues while using the rear cameras on pro photo and pro video, the image and video I get is upside down but while using the selfie camera on both the modes seem to be alright. Does anyone else have this issue?

Inside the camera settings, go to Camera Assistant > 'DOF adapter correction' and disable the toggle for it. This should solve the issue of PRO photo/video getting flipped. Hope it helps.

Hello there.

I have observed the so-called barn door opening that you mentioned.

It appears that Samsung's attempt at smooth transitions may be the cause of the AI effect.

Regarding the image shift, I have seen numerous posts about it.

From what I understand, this issue can be seen on any phone with three or more lenses, as the lenses will shift focus since they are quite far apart.

This will be more noticeable with close objects than with distant ones.

Additionally, someone suggested enabling or disabling the auto lens switch setting (I cannot recall which one) in the camera assistant app to partially resolve the image shifting.

Please keep in mind that the shift is more apparent between 1x, 3x, and 10x for close objects, as it physically transitions between the lenses, unlike between 1x and 2x, which is merely a digital crop.

I hope I have addressed some of your concerns.

Nonetheless, this is an issue that Samsung should be made aware of.

I have exactly the same problem as @y2kviv with my S24 Ultra. Did Samsung solve that one for you, or should we wait for some kind of software update?

I have tried most of the solutions suggested in the Samsung community with no luck. So I'll be taking my device to Samsung experience store to get this issue sorted.
