Hi all,

I want to buy the new Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4. They support the latest and greatest aptx lossless codec, but i hear that the samsung's flagship of 1500€ that i bought do not support that codec.

Is that true? Does anyone know for sure? Is it possible that samsung will allow this codec in an upcoming update?

The reason is to force users to purchase Samsung Galaxy Buds, which is a very shady business decision.

No idea about that. I use Bose 700 NC Headphones Which I got free with the Pixel 6.

My ears hurt with buds they are just not my thing.

The Son uses them.

I have a pair of B&W PX8's, and I am really annoyed I'm not able to get the most from them because Samsung aren't enabling the APTXHD codec. It's just to get people to use their own hardware. I've bought probably £4000+ of handsets from Samsung over the last few years, my next purchase will be with a company which allows the use of APTXHD (ie not Samsung).

Fair enough. In today's world you vote with your money I say.

We as consumers have choice.

I personally am not a music buff per se .

I rant more about cameras and maybe a bit of gaming issues.

Those are my sticking points :smiling-face:

Glad I randomly came across this post otherwise I would be in the same boat.
I was going to get the flip 6 instead of the motorola razr 2024 plus, but if I would be stuck with SBC codec on my Sonos Ace or my B&O H95 headphones it doesn't make sense. 90% of my listening comes from my phone. I am far from an audiophile or enthusiast, the difference in quality between SBC and aptXhd/adaptive/lossless is pretty big. Its not like one of those topics with people arguing over differences nobody can actually hear.
Anyways! I'm going with the razr2024 plus I guess.

  • I have the G S24 ultra and can see in developer options that when running the headphones app and selecting aptx lossless within it that I'm indeed running in Bluetooth 44.1kHZ 16 bit which is indeed aptx lossless. Many mistake the 16 bit as a sign it's not lossless HOWEVER lossless runs DOUBLE the throughput at 1.2Mbps and that's indicated in the GS24U Dev Options submenu. I just received new EarFun AirPro 4 buds running BT 5.4 and specked for aptx-lossless as well as SnapDragon Sound. Both trounce LDAC by a country mile. These buds were less than 90 bucks and they sound ASTONISHINGLY FANTASTIC , even better than the Sennheiser, Sony and Bose Ultra buds which I didn't understand, but can tell you the expensive guys are in trouble with high quality inexpensive performance like this. I have Samsung's new buds Pro3, that are CODEC speced similarly, arriving next week. The CODECS are rapidly becoming ubiquitous but it takes a bit of sleuthing right now to qualify that you have them at both ends.

This is totally the case, since Qualcomm open sourced the codecs. In my case, I'm thinking on changing phone brand. This saddens me after being a long Samsung fan, but I like to fully enjoy what I owe. Specially on high end products.

Same here, Samsung Fan, but if such a thing is being ignored that relentlessly, its maybe time to switch to Sony. Even my cheap Xiaomi Workphone supports AptX Adaptive. Just bought the B&W PI8 and cant use them even close to their potential. Have to use the Workaround by connecting the case via USB-C to the Phone, because that at least can transmit with AptX Adaptive. Does Samsung really want their customer doing workarounds like this? By a phone (S24 Ultra) which is even physically capable of transmitting AptX Lossless.
