Hi all,

I want to buy the new Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4. They support the latest and greatest aptx lossless codec, but i hear that the samsung's flagship of 1500€ that i bought do not support that codec.

Is that true? Does anyone know for sure? Is it possible that samsung will allow this codec in an upcoming update?

I also read that. No mention of when it might be enabled if at all

It appears that Samsung phones may support the feature, but for some reason, Samsung prefers users to utilize their own codec. As a result, the feature is disabled. I believe this information can be verified within the developer settings.

So I purchased and returned the MTW4.

In the Sennheiser App, you have an option to turn on Hi Res and Lossless Audio on. The S24Ultra will automatically select Aptx (you can see this in Developer Options). This is the standard Aptx.

I don't know about the difference in sound quality between the standard Aptx and Aptx HD as S24 does not have all the Aptx codecs.

However, when I turned off the Hi Res and Losless feature in the Sennheiser app, I genuinely could not tell the difference.

I think only the Aptx HD codec with the Hi Res and Loseless turned on in the Senneheiser App will demonstrate the sound quality.

The MTW4 are a good set of earbuds but battery life (7.5hours ANC off vs Sony XM5 10hours) and the lack of support from Samsung with codecs, I would consider maybe Sony or The Buds 2 Pro.

Samsung never supported that and probably never will.

Yes, aptx is supported, I use it all the time to connect to my DAC, in developers mode, it will show you what profile it supports.

Thank you could you provide a step by step instruction how to enable the developper mode and show us where the codecs in use are precisely listed and any way of being sure. Samsung officially does not support aptx lossless bunch of codecs(lossless, HD, adaptative had) Thanking you in advance. Arnaud

The S24Ultra only supports the standard APTX. Samsung does not support APTX HD/Lossless. You can get LDAC with Sony and other LDAC compatible earbuds/headphones. 1712410539874.jpg

This is the OnePlus 12. As you can clearly see, the whole range of Aptx codecs are available. These are not available on Samsung at all otherwise they would show up under Developer Options. 1712412264149.jpg
