Ever since I bought my s24 the speaker is so low that turning on a fan you cannot hear or barely hear someone.  Handset volume is fine.  It is up all the way in settings and on the volume slider on the side.  It's been six months and I didn't change any volume settings.  Now I am getting distortion on some calls.  I'm not positive but I think there's distortion in the handset also.  Over that time I have restarted it numerous times.  I tried with and without the case.  Same.  I took it in for diagnostics and that didn't show any hardware issues.  The tech said it could be the phone carrier.  YouTube seems to play ok but not really very loud either.  I believe that when I listened over headphones sound was real loud.  I have not yet tried a factory reset cause I know that's time consuming.  It's a lot of money to spend to not be able to hear most people.  I'm also having battery barely last a day after owning for six months.  It only went down to a minimum of 30% when I was ready to charge it.  Diagnostics did not show battery issues either.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

Ps I did buy it brand new

Hello @Cmpokey and may I extend a Warm Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum 👋

I'm sorry to hear your experiencing these issues with the volume on your phone.  😔

You mention the phone has been assessed already ~ If this wasn't by a Samsung Service Centre then please have the phone reassessed by one.

If a Samsung Service Centre have had hands on then ask for the phone to be looked at again and specify this is a speaker issue and now a battery issue.

May I assume the speakers are free of debris.

Try a forced reboot by holding down the volume down key and power button simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it. When your phone resets, you will feel it vibrate.

If you press on the volume slider and press the 3 little dots at the top of the volume level pop up then press the Cog.

This will then show 3 little dots in the top Rh Corner to tap on, and then choose Media Volume Limit.

Turn it on and then you can set a Custom Volume Limit ,and see how you go.

If the above does not help then a factory reset after backing up is the next option.

In regards to your battery stats then do check in the phone's Device Care to look at what is using the battery.

You can use Safe Mode as a troubleshooting step.

Safe Mode  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-start-my-galaxy-device-in-safe-mode/ turns off downloaded apps and themes etc which may highlight an app or theme that's causing conflict. Alternatively long press the power off button and then long hold on Turn Off to get to Safe Mode.

A broadsworded troubleshooting approach is >

  • Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }

If you perform a forum search you may find existing threads with some further help or guidence within.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

Hiya, in terms of the speakers, have you tried adjusting the sound balance to see if the problem is isolated to either the top or bottom speaker? (settings->accessability->hearing enhancements, then scroll down to phone speakers).

Other than that it's worth trying out clearing system cache files and safe mode as @BandOfBrothers suggested.

Samsung may suggest a full reset before they look further into it so worth making sure you have a full backup first if you decide to do that. I tend to back my phone both up to Samsung Cloud and Google Drive as in my experience they cover different things.

Hope this helps a bit.

@Cmpokey: I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing audio issues with your Galaxy S24. To troubleshoot the issue, please head to Settings > Sounds and vibration > Volume, and make sure that all the sliders are at a suitable level, especially 'Media'. Also, tap the 3 dots in the top right > Media volume limit > Off. Now, tap the Back button > Sound quality and effects > Dolby Atmos > On > Adapt sound > On, and follow the on-screen prompts.

If the issue persists, head to the Samsung Members app > Press and hold on the app icon > Diagnostics > Phone diagnostics > Speaker, and follow the on-screen prompts. Can you hear the sample song clearly during the Media speaker test?

Yes, same issue, the phone isn't even 1 year old. I can't use it to listen to music without a headset. 🙄

I'm going to send mine in.  Cause I've tried all the suggested ideas except the system reset.  Thanks!

I didn't do the system partition.  That is even necessary if I have had this issue since I have had the phone.  I did tell Samsung service center about the speaker.  They said they pretty much did diagnostics that would look over the whole phone.  I did go into safe mode but since I couldn't make calls and such and did not understand how that is to tell you if an app was causing the issue.  Could you explain that better?  Oh and every time I try to go into safe mode that Bixby assistant keeps coming up.  I do not know how to get around that.  I finally somehow managed.  I am just now getting my replies otherwise I would've responded sooner.  As far as debris I'm not sure how I can get in there.  Maybe I'm not sure where the speaker is.  If that's the problem then it came dirty.  I also did the adjustment and sound.

Thanks for all your help!

Id like to check the speakers but I don't see anything that looks alike on the top and the bottom.  So I'm not sure where the speakers are?  Thanks!

@Cmpokey: If you want to check the speakers for any debris that may be affecting the audio, then the bottom speaker is situated to the right of the USB port (and looks like a small grill), while the top speaker is positioned directly above the front camera. For guidance, please refer to page 9 of the user manual via the link below.
